Preparations for the big day!

Post » Fri Aug 19, 2011 3:59 pm

Have you ever looked forward to something so much that you just say to yourself "Geez (insert day here) is going to be a really important day and I would do anything to make sure that I get the best possible experience out of it. Nothing is going to interfere and everything will be perfect and just the way I want it!"?

I'm sure most of the forum-goers are feeling this way about Skyrim and 11-11-11. So to get down to the big question.... Are you doing anything special to prepare for the big day? It can be anything from getting boatloads of snacks to rearranging your game room to building a shrine just for a place to put your Skyrim case when you get it.

Personally, my family is right now finishing our basemant and the biggest room(living room size) is going to be turned into a gaming room. I know that when it is finished I'm moving my 42' flatscreen down there along with extra couches and lazy boys we have upstairs. On top of that I will be purchasing a mini fridge, extra large bean bags, and a couple of 36x54 Skyrim posters to help decorate and also make sure that when 11-11-11 comes I'm in the best possible environment to enjoy Skyrim to its fullest :)

I searched for anything like this topic so forgive me if something similar has been posted.

Discuss! :foodndrink:

I'm hoping to take the work week off because I want to play Skyrim non-stop when it gets here. This may or may not happen, depending on the financial situation at that time.

Well I'm going to the midnight release with a couple of my friends and then we may either go back to my house and play it together or go back to our respective houses and just be in an xbox live party discussing what we are doing and so forth. I hope it's the latter though I like making little parties with snacks and drinks for stuff like this.

I shall attend the midnight release with some friends, and then I will immerse myself in the game until I can continue no longer.

You have a 42 foot tv! But seriously, I'll be kind of freaking out getting ready for my driver's permit test for the 12th. I'll be anxious for two very important days that will happen very rapidly I assume.

Divorced the wife, quit the job, bought enough canned food, drips and nappies to last 12 months, faked my own death because who needs house guests? and Umm..Yeh, i think that about covers it.

All set here.

I plan to stock up on those coffee flavored energy drinks and popcorn. I have a long weekend when it comes out, and sleep will not be tolerated. :D

Taking a few days vacation from work. I've recently broken up with the gf so that will be one less distraction come 11-11-11.

If I can't pre-download Skyrim on Steam I'm probably going to go get it at midnight, I'm not sure yet though. Other than that, I'll be stocking up on Mtn dew ahead of time, and turning my cell off.

Finding someway to inflict myself with serious looking symtoms to get out of college. If I walk past someone with the flu in the week before, I'm licking their face.

Most likely attend the midnight release with a couple friends, then retire to my room, as i plan i hijacking the computer and our most comfortable computer chair into my room. My room will be filled with a cooler containing at least 5 cokes and a few bottles of water, 2 lunchables, 2 bags of Doritos, a box of cheez itz and nilla waffers, and a box of advlt diapers. I'll be all set :celebration:

My friend and I plan to go to Pizza hut for dinner, than be first in line at our gamestop while we play 3DS. I also plan to stock the fridge with plenty of cold Dr. Pepper and Digiorno Pizzas ;)

I have a 3 day weekend the day Skyrim comes out, so school won't be a problem for me. I'll be locked in my room while I dress up as a Dovahkiin, using Dragonshouts at my computer screen.

Probably will be at university on that day. Doesn't affect me too much since I have it on pre-order for free super saver delivery. Yes I am a cheap skate. However, when I receive it...I wouldn't be surprised if I don't leave the room for a couple of days.

We should commandeer a TeamSpeak or Ventrilo server for those who want to chat/share the experience on the PC?

Just finished painting my room, so it's nice and fresh now. Surround sound has been placed for the greatest effect, and I've refilled my bean bag with polyballs.

Sorted

And now we wait...

I'm tempted to get some beers in, just because it's more rugged and Skyrimesque than my usual red wine. Maybe I should go the whole hog and get some proper ale? Decisions...
Other than that, I've got time off work and my friends are all aware that I may go missing for a while, but not to bother looking for me.
I also split up with my ex (who's birthday is on the 11th) so that's saved him tutting and looking disapproving over my shoulder - not a gamer at all - but have acquired a new bf. Fortunately he's also getting Skyrim, so hopefully he'll be more understanding. :P

I'd love to go to a midnight release, but I've never heard of one being done round my end. :(

[Edit] Just realised it may sound like I split up with the ex because of Skyrim - definitely not the case, I'm not that obsessed lol.

You know what they say right? Great minds think alike! I was sitting here reading about the sodas, water, juice, etc... and wondering, WHERE IS THE BEERS/ALES?! I think I am going to re-position the surround sound, TV is wall mounted so no worries there(might even pick up a 2 foot sound bar for the surround sound!) I have been seriously looking into getting an armchair as is, so basically, I can see myself planted in my arm chair with a small cooler with ice cold beers in it, hell I'll even pour it into a glass for this, while enjoying the game and maybe get a light snack(sushi rolls most likely). But again, THANK YOU for mentioning the beers! Kudos to you, I believe I've made a friend today...

I won't be doing anything special. I'll be really excited all day though. I'll probably stay up all night playing Skyrim since it releases on a Friday.
