Pressured into choosing a side

Post » Sat Nov 06, 2010 3:35 am

I thought that I could sort of dilly dally and keep every faction happy but as soon as you leave The Tops there is an immense pressure to join up with Caeser/NCR/House.....Does anyone else find this a problem?

I might do the Wild Card ones because the pressure is immense...Why isn't there a "Get Caeser and NCR to kiss and make up while House founds the United Wastelanders front"?

I'm so tempted to just spend a day shooting every single faction leader in the head thus ending all the conflict.

I'm going wild card on my first playthrough. It's pretty fun to have the freedom.

I did the House Always Win Rout on first play through... not very satisfying.

Going to Wild Card it this time :)

Get Caesar and NCR to kiss and make up? Really? The neutral choice is to tell them all to bugger off.

I find it very hard to choose! Yesterday I was playing I was making my way to Primm and come across a Trade Caravan. I followed them a bit and just up the road they got ambushed by Ceasars Legion. I joined the fight, killed the Legion and was immediately disliked by them so I reloaded and watched the innocents get slaughtered, all for the sake of my reputation. (Im not very far into the main quest so have not worked for the Legion yet.) And what is Wild Card BTW?

I'm taking that Yes robot route which I believe is the wildcard. I'm in favor of Caesars legion though.

I have been trying to do the same thing, but I am to the point where I will have to side with NCR or Legion soon. I am also going to have to pick Powder Gangers/NCR. I know from reading some things that if you do the Legion quest early and get the vilified rep with them all is forgiven once you reach their point of the main quest

Only choice I didnt like was between house and the NCR, I think they could work well together, such a shame.

I've been debating this as well.

I killed House and don't plan to do the Yes Man route.

Right now, I'm still golden with the Legion and the NCR both, but must choose - probably when I get home from work.

I'm thinking NCR this time, Legion next time, then House, then Wildcard...

It doesn't matter, as soon as you leave The Tops after dealing with Benny & the chip your Legion rep is reset.

how far can you go in the "main quest" btw before having to chose sides?
I'm currently at the stage where i've been to the fort and back, and now have to go talk to certain groups. I've heard that persuading the boomer to help you = the point of no return.

You can go all the way to the "point of no return" from Mr. House and simply not go, then decide who you want to side with.

i'm stuck for the same reason's as everyone else as new vegas is masquerading with all the charms of the first 2 games with there being 100 shades of grey for 1 situation yet this proves it's palette is lacking as there is one route per major faction with no inbetween and it's killing me as the ending i'm faced with is either house and the super powerful robo-army with no minor faction in his way and the only option to manipulate his plan is a bullet in his head that or the NCR controlling everything

What do you mean no in-between? There are shades of gray in who you choose to help. You just have to be able to see them. Though, unfortunately, some of them are bugged (like being able to have the Khans join NCR and not just wipe them out or make them a kamikaze squad :/)

In my current (and firs) playthrough I just had Benny run away with the Chip, so now I need to get it back.

My issue is that I am leaning towards the NCR (if only because I respect their rangers and first recon troops... and they fight slavers), but want to get Benny and the chip back.

However, once I have the Chip I am wondering what other options I have. If I give the chip to Mr House, can I go and kill him later for the NCR? I don't see a reason for my character to kill Mr House right away.

I'm also trying to find a good transition point to doing more free roaming before engaging in the main quest once more, but can't think of the better time than after I've gotten the chip back from Benny (it wouldn't make sense, since he's an active threat as he has the Chip, plus I want to fight Ceasar's Legion later on).

For now I'm thinking of seeing Mr House and telling him about Benny, doing his mission at the Fort and then switching to lots of exploration and side-questing before I switch to the NCR missions.

You'll have to choose between the three sides, but regardless, you can still play Wild Card at any point. Just DON'T upload Yes Man until you're sure because it lockls the Final Battle to an independant New vegas. However, your decisions in that iother faction will still effect what happens in the independance finale.

Wow no interest in this dilemma earlier(must be the time zone difference)

I think the neutral thing to do would be to Wild Card the main quest ersince I'm not really into any of the factions as they all have inherent flaws that make them hard to support. I killed some legion members which I thought included Vulpes Inculta(Had ED-E deal with him) and I now know why I couldnt find his body(You can imagine my surprise on the strip)

by in-between i mean you don't have to look but clear as day with each having rather similar endings while in the first two you could see that what you did made a difference not just a slight change

Yeah I just let them fight it out..too early in the game to take sides.
Of course as soon as you get Boone...it's NCR for the win as that boy does not like the Legion.

IIRC

You Choose between House and Legion when you goto the Bunker at Legion Fort.
If you destroy the bunker = Legion
If you don't = House

Not sure where NCR and House divide happen, it might be with the Boomers, but I think it has to do with following the Ambassador's route.

[Edit]

Wild Card is you becoming your own power in the Mojave. By killing House and assuming control of his robotic army and killing/converting the minor factions to your side.

I too was avoiding direct conflict with the Legion for the time being. En-route to Novac I was able to free the captives from Nipton as an NCR patrol attacked and killed most the Legionnaires just as I arrived. The ambushed caravan only had to deal with a couple of survivors and was able to kill them. But upon arriving in Novac and learning how Ranger Andy received his injuries I will be killing every single Legionnaire I see from here to the end of this playthrough. I'm with Boone on this one...
