Preston Garvey Mission

Post » Mon Jan 11, 2016 9:02 pm

What was the first Kidnapping mission Garvey gave to you? Mine was called Kidnapping at Oberland station. Wasn't I supposed to get Kidnapping at County Crossing as my first kidnapping quest or is it all random? Will I get to complete all of the Preston Garvey quests eventually because right now, he keeps making me deal with the same exact locations that I already did so I feel like I won't get to complete every single Garvey mission. Is it really that big of a deal?

They are radiant quests. They are never ending. I assume eventually you will get them all.

They're random. Sometimes just rescuing from the same spot over and over again.

I swear if someone gets kidnapped from Abernathy Farm one more time......

Seriously though, Preston's "another settlement that needs our help" quests are an easy way to max out affinity with the companions who like it when you help people.

Maybe because of traitors on your side? I noticed I had far less kidnappings without Preston - conclusion, Preston or another member of his pathetic group is behind those kidnappings and organize them ...

Not geared up enough, try power armor and explosive minigun, perhaps an fatman.

Get the institute to kidnap them first and replace them with an courser.

Would it work to have an accident during rescue or is they essential. :)

Know some settlers can not be moved so they are probably flagged for quests.

If you ever want to stop him giving you new ones after handing them in, don't hand them in. Progress the mission to where you have to hand it in to him, but don't.

After a while, the mission auto completes. You get the experience reward, but you won't get anymore until you either talk to him or listen to radio freedom/visit the Castle.

Bliss.

All, as in having been to every place at least a thousand times, I guess. My Nemesis is Abernathy. I guess, short of killing them and razing the place, nothing stops that. Only killing them doesn't resolve the issue. At least, if you call other settlers to take their place.

I got Clearing The Way: Oberland Station, which had me go to Sunshine Tidings Co-Op and claim the workshop. In my game someone at Sanctuary Hills is getting kidnapped practically every other day. I fricken hate Preston Garvey and his endless crap!

They're random.

On my first character, the game sent me just a tad south to Oberland Station and two settlements to the east, which seemed to stay on par with my level.

On my second character, I'm being sent to settlements far above my level, such as Somerville Place, which there's no way I can do at my current level of 20. Not only would I have to contend with two Mirelurk Kings, but that pesky Queen is near the area as well. Thanks, Preston, but I'm going to wait a while before going south.

I wish he would have sent me to Hangman's Alley, because that's an excellent starting point for supply lines as I can manage them much better. Maybe I can go there and unlock the station without being sent by Preston. I'll check that out the next time I'm near Diamond City.

I didn't have to do any fighting when first making my way to Somerville. You can evade everything on your way there.

I'm on a second play through right now and I keep having the same things happen to me. I got sent to Somerville Place and Jamaica Plains both around level 22. These places are pretty deep in deathclaw and behemoth territories. I managed to complete them with no real issues, but I was seeing a TON of enemies with skulls next to their names. I had to actively avoid a few places that I knew I definitely wasn't ready to visit yet while I was traveling there. I think at least in my case though it may be because I pretty much just went off on my own and unlocked a lot of the northern settlements. I'm trying to get most of them established fairly early in the game so I have fewer of these quests later on.

On the bright side, I stopped at WRVR Radio and recruited Anne Hargrave on the way to Somerville place and then swung by Egret Tours Marina on my way back from Jamaica Plain. So I guess I kind of killed two birds with one stone. Or four birds with two stones, as I suppose the case is here.

Kidnapping at Covenant. I didn't even get it from Preston or Radio Fiddle. I just fast travelled to Kingsport Lighthouse and suddenly the Mission pops up telling me to go talk to Preston. You guys weren't kidding when you said these Minutemen missions are annoying as [censored].

I can only assume these areas are given to me because I still have save files from my first character, and the game just assumes I can make it. Pass. Because I'm keeping my weapons at base (only increase damage from mods), there's no freaking way I can make it there and do whatever quest they want me to do, which will most likely be going to Atamatoys factory.

Deathclaws finally have the skulls removed, but they're still strong enough that when I see one, I soil the underwear and run like hell (usually into another area which diverts the Deathclaws attention on me - I love kiting Deathclaws to raiders or mutants).

I suppose at some point I'm either going to have to do mundane quests to level up to get better mods or chunk down 20% damage on my weapons, but I'd really like to avoid the trap I did with my first character.

I don't mind being UP. It's a sense of realism to say "There's a reason the word 'Death' is in its name."

I really hate these radiant missions. I had one yesterday, ghoul problems at Abernathy. I cleared it and upon talking with Prostate Garvey, I immediately got a new mission....Ghoul problem at Abernathy Farm!!! WTF! I went to the location and there was 1.....yes 1 ghoul. killed it and mission completed. Really?

There's always one ghoul. Creeping out from behind some barrels.

In regards to your first point, I get the feeling that a similar thing has happened with my new character's first interaction with the BoS. "Cleansing the Commonwealth" is at College Court, or whatever it is called, which is right next to the police station, but "Quartermastery" is wanting me to go to Monsignor Plaza...which I never had to go to on my other character until I was higher level. And this toon is only level 6 right now.

Haha, the last few times I was sent there, the Ghoul was simply standing behind a crate, wedged between that and a shipping container, and I couldn't even aggro it. Simply jumped onto the container and fired a shotgun point-blank down on its head. :) Easiest mission ever.
