I am pretty positive that weapons hotkeyed will appear on yo

In Fallout 3 and NV, your equipped weapon is displayed on your character (either "holstered" or in-hand) . . . weapons do NOT have to be assigned a hotkey slot to be displayed.

Of course, it was still just your equipped weapon, if I recall correctly. What some of these people seem to be looking for is a "I've got these four weapons hotkeyed, so my character is festooned with sheathes! I'm badass!" effect. :)

(Personally, I'm not a fan of that look, so if this system is in, I'll be switching weapons be going to my inventory every time. Until a mod comes out to change it.)

------

edit: thinking about it, I think such a system would only work if there were a limited and pre-defined set of "weapon slots" to equip weapons in. Because there's only so many hardpoints you can define on a character without running into problems with clipping, weapon-draw animations, etc. So, instead of assigning weapons to general hotkeys, you'd stick three weapons in your weapon slots, with the three slots being something like Left Side of Belt, Right Side of Belt, and Back. With two-handers or bows only assignable to Back. Hmm, or two Back slots, so that you could have crossed swords equipped, or 2-hander and bow.

....hmm, and how would that work with dual-wielding. Complications.

well this could work really well, like having a shield or a staff on youyr pack while holding 2 sword, but it could also work really badly for example if i had a selection of meat in my hot keys, or a book. i dont want to be in the middle of the wilderness with hungry wolves all around and then has lots of meat stuck on my back.

Yes, only your equipped weapon was shown on your character (which is exactly what I wrote in my previous post). In Fallout 3 you could only equip 1 weapon, but in Skyrim, with the addition of dual wield, we'll be able to equip 2 weapons . . . so my guess is that only these two equipped weapons will be displayed (either "holstered" or in-hand).

Personally, I would like to see the number of weapons (and armor) you can have in your inventory limited in a more realistic way . . . either that or make your inventory inaccessible during combat, so that the only weapons you can use would be your equipped weapons. I mean, it just isn't at all realistic to be find yourself suddenly in combat . . . and then pause the game while you open your inventory to select a better weapon or put on your armor. After all, your enemies should not just stand idle while you slip into more protective clothing, or rummage through your gear to select a weapon that you didn't want to have to carry on your person. [This was difficult to mod in FO3, because your hotkeys and inventory menus were connected in a way that, when your inventory was inaccessible, your hotkeys no longer worked.]

In Fallout 3 you can hotkey ingestibles, as well as weapons, but only your equipped weapon is displayed on your character . . . because only weapons and clothing (and head gear) include defined character display slots.

I'm completely for this. I plan on being a ranger type character, so having a sword sheathed at the belt, a dagger on the other side, and a bow slung across his back would be awesome.

I don't mind the weapon's appearing on my PC as long as it isn't ridiculous.

Less of magnet bodied, anus item pulling, floating equipment using characters HAZA. I don't mind floating gear in TES because we have sheaths. It's just plain lame in fallout where you have to go back into your inventory to pull out a sidearm. Even if half the body equipment assets were gone in favor of holstered ones I would take the holsters any day. None of that pre war weaponry would survive exposed to the elements. So you got to stow your piece there man bro duders.
