I'm pretty sure I finished the game...

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 1:30 am

Please don't flame me for this. I really do love TES. I totally ignored the pre-Skyrim hype so I would be surprised and not easily disappointed.
The first few days were AMAZING!!!!
But now the novelty is starting to wear off.
And I'm starting to realize
...I've done everything...

Within the first night Skyrim came out I became the Arch-Mage of the college. I would have paced myself had I known the quest line consisted of like... 5 quests...
(I was more upset about not being invited to be a member of the Psijic Order to realize at the time)

Since then I've become....
Spoiler
Dragon born.
Seen both sides of the civil war.
A werewolf and Companion guild leader.
A vampire (still no quests for them WTF!?
Thieves Guild Leader
The Listener
Every Daedric Prince's Servant
And the gotogirl for every NPC with dialogue...

Right now I am playing a hardcoe RP character. A Khajiit who wanders around with the caravans (although I've yet to find an actual 'caravan') squeezing the last few drops out of this game. Every once and awhile something random and new happens.
Spoiler
Like whats up with the headless horseman?

But I've pretty much completed the game.
And I can't say that about ANY other TES game despite the hundreds of hours I've poured into them.... (Yes, even Oblivion)

You can never 100% a TES game.

How many hours did this take you?

I wasn't exactly counting. But I cant tell you I have defiantly invested more hours into each Oblivion, Morrowind and Daggerfall.

IRL I have a job, a man and a gym membership - so It's not like I was playing every waking hour of the day.

That might be true for Daggerfall and Morrowind, but I don't see why you can't do it for Skyrim. Obviously if you did it with just one character you'd only be able to pick one side of the war, but still.

It's very true that the quest lines are abysmally short and one-dimensional. Low replayability. I find not using fast travel helps, but the fact remains that the quest design and number thereof was not a priority.

This.

Game hasn't even been out a month. Take a chill pill. Plus, I've got a good feeling about DLC for skyrim. A really good feeling.

Do you think you put in at least 100 hours?

it will tell you on your game file.

I only have 70 hours in, and only joined the Thieves Guild and Bard College, still havent completed them yet.

I am just trying to figure out how you played, and how you can fix it.

I don't think it's possible to "complete" it.

I put 80 hours into it, and have about 30 side quests left in my menu.
And I haven't even been TRYING to look for side quests. They just find you.

How many hours do you have? I seriously doubt you've exhausted the content.

And if you have: what the heck were you thinking? Did you purposely
set out to finish everything so quickly? Why would you do this? The game
has been out for not even a month!

Sorry for the tone, I'm just trying to understand the people that have played a game to exhaustion.
A game that has hundreds of hours of content, in only >month.

Oh ya! Forgot about the Bard College. I made a Bard specifically to join. I got accepted but then got distracted by Sheogorath...

Its not like I am just blowing through these quests all on one uber character.
I have like 6 different characters I've tried and each of them has completed at least one main quest line.

Now I don't even want to make another character, knowing there is nothing new left to do. Except wander around (like my Khajiit is doing now) and hope to stumble across something fun. (Which so far has been the MOST fun ;] )

No. I never once had the goal of 'completing the entire game' on my mind.
I'm a pretty big RPer and that's why I love TES.
I made a couple different characters, each who took their own path in life.
And I ended up seeing almost all the main content between all these characters within a few weeks.
After the first two characters became guild leaders I even specifically started pacing myself.

I wasn't trying. And was pretty disappointed when I realized there was nothing new left to do but "misc quests"
lol those really shouldn't be the highlight of the game.

I also beat it, and I'm honestly playing it now just to see if I really did beat it (the world map is a mess, can't tell anything apart) because the only quests I have left are (spoiler, maybe, barely?) one-glitched out Bards College quest where I have the desired item but it wont allow me to return it. So... I've come to the conclusion that a lot was left out for DLC, based on the numerous untouched or barely addressed plots in the game (see, Thalmor, Psjic Order).

I think the main quest was a step up from Oblivion mostly because Dragons are SOOOOOOOOOOO much infinitely more better than Oblivion gates. (times 1 million).

If I never see another Oblivion Gate again I will be so happy. Dragons are like puppies. I just love their little noses and faces trying to snip at me.

But I 100% agree with you, the guild quests are way too short and not up to snuff with Oblivions in my opinion. And the Civil War questline was shallow even though it had more/as much potential as the main quest line. It really fell flat to me.

That said, I love the side quests and radiant AI quests, I have no issues with them. Just wish the civil war and the guild quests were done better.

The Draemora Prince (spelling) quests I have no issues with. They seem about the same as in prior games.

I thought it would be true at first too, but seriously the dragons become tedious after a while. They don't do anything different (unless you count flying backwards :P). At least in OB the gates were somewhat random and you could sometimes find different paths through them, with different enemies and loot.

So you are saying that you did the main quest, the civi war, not only the mages guild but the thieves guild, the companions, the dark brotherhood, the bard's college, the blades, did all the temple quests, daedric quests, the forsworn, dealt with the every side quest and random quest, you've dwemer dived, maxed every skill, talked to every 'person' in every town, village, fort and shack, you've found every location, bought every house, became Thane in every hold, have every housecarl, have employed every employable companion, gotten married, not to mention all the stuff I am sure I don't even know about yet?

You may think your done with it but if you take a break for say a couple months I bet you will go back to skyrim and put another 100 hours into it. That's how elder scrolls games are for me

Pretty much just waiting for mods =]

The release on xbox was outstanding. And from what I hear, the people complaining about bugs on the PC are over exaggerating (has a lot to do with individuals hardware set up as well, not the software itself).

I don't know how anyone would not be excited about DLC, considering how amazing a core game Skyrim is for them to add to.
