Previous Bethesda Pre-Release Spoilers?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 3:06 pm

As we have less than a month until Nov. 10th, I'm starting to consider when the best time to "Go Dark" and stop visiting the forums (temporarily) may be. My main reason for going dark will be to avoid any potential storyline spoilers before the game comes out, and it seemed like it would be a good idea to know what Bethesda's past track record has been in this department.

So for those of you who have been following Bethesda's releases far longer than I have, I (and I'm sure many others) would greatly appreciate it if you could share any spoilers that you know of that were leaked before Skyrim, Fallout 3, etc. Additionally, if you know how soon before the game's release a spoiler was leaked, that would be quite helpful as well.

as soon as Fallout 4 goes Gold, is a good time, that's when Video Game news sites get a review copy of the game, to me that would be the best time to avoid everything.

I'm probably going to drop off the radar a little while after the Luck video is revealed next week, and then I'll just keep up with Bethesda.net for any more news - they're the primary source, and at this point the only reliable source of new Fallout news. And once the game actually launches: goodbye, internet.

This will probably be me also. You can bet Bethesda is not going to release spoilers so it is wise to check there and avoid the forum for a while.

I only get bothered by really bad spoilers (like endings or the Red Wedding) so I'm not planning to go dark. Maybe I've been lucky but I've managed to avoid the majority of spoilers on recent releases.

About 1 or 2 weeks before Skyrim's release, this one user began uploading his play-through of Skyrim via a review copy he had received. I remember this guy in particular because of how much he said: "B-but, I'm the Dovahkiin." I think he uploaded a bunch on his site before he got cease and desist warnings from Bethesda. He started hosting the videos through other outlets though.

This guy was an absolute saint, since I recall the drought of information after the quake con footage was released in the beginning of September. I remember sitting by the fire and watching this guy [censored] around in Skyrim and it built the hype even more.

Cheers you magnificent bastard.

Ah, I didn't know that. It certainly sounds like the right time to go dark for me.

Aye, after going dark, keeping up with any news by going directly to Bethesda.net sounds like a safe option.

Sounds like a good idea to rely on Bethesda.net for official updates and avoid reviews like the plague.

Would Bethesda even announce that they have gone Gold?

No-one is forcing them to announce that.

The PC specs released early (tied to gold status I'm sure)

Rise of the Tomb Raider went gold 10 days ago, and that releases (as we know) on the same day.

Ever since I ruined New Vegas for myself I make it a point not to watch many youtube videos or read basically any articles about soon to release games im intending on buying. I have still yet to watch most of whats out there and in all honesty dont know much about F4 in terms of new features and such.

I want F4 to be as fresh and foreign as possible, IMO it just makes for a better playing experience when you truly dont know whats around the corner. I cant wait to be amazed, and now that I literally just got back from an interview it looks like ill definitely have enough money to get a new xbox and Fallout....thank the heavens because it was looking iffy there for a moment.

I remember a video popping up on my YouTube suggestions list called "carpet cleaning" or something. The thumbnail looked like one of te official Skyrim screenies, so I clicked on it. Footage of a Skyrim werewolf wrecking shop. That was at least a week before go live and disappeared the next day.

Probably go dark next week. WWE 2K16 is released next Tuesday and I'll be playing that until release of Fallout 4.

Obsidian released a metric ton of story and faction info on New Vegas before release. We were able to anolyze everything to death. Bethesda has already stated that they won't release any more information about the story of Fallout 4 before release. So that's good.
