PreWar Information

I would like to see how and why the war started, the best would be like a little movie(GECK).
Some gouls like Greta(Fallout 3) would be cool to get information out of.
A library full of books that can give me info and holotapes.
Maybe even a small space ship crash landed on to the wasteland of New Vegas(Because some people want to see aliens), the aliens could speak english and be 500 years old, they would explain what they know about Earth before the war and what happened during the war. If they showed how the nukes went off from outer space would be cool from a mini movie.

It's already explained at the beginning of Fallout 1. China invaded for petrolium and uranium resources.

as long as it is well written and does not mess with canon and has nothing to do with damn Aliens of any kind. It should also just give out a little more info but not to much. Again no aliens starting the great war.

I want to actually be able to read skill books, like in the elder scrolls game, and for that matter some other readable or barely readable books would be cool, fallout wiki kinda feels like cheating
But if you want to know more about the fallout universe you could always play some of the previous games, they are quite cheap

Yeah. I hate the skillbook system in FO3. I wanna read them and keep them, cause some seem interesting (Nikola Tesla and You sounds like something I would read in tech class).

Part of the game is the commentary on the uncertainty of exactly how the war started, and the fact that it doesn't really matter anymore, everyone's just struggling to survive. To pin the burden of doomsday and mass murder on either side (China or the US) would be hugely controversial and a catastrophic mistake.
On the other hand, Vegas was one of the few places not hit by the bombs. They would have had a perfect view of who launched first. Interesting...
