prey (the first one ;-)

Post » Sat Mar 22, 2014 3:06 am

as there's no sub foram for the first game on the prey bit, posing here instead.

have just re-started playing it again after 5-6 years (on pc this time).

am still amazed as to how great the game is tbh :-)

obviously there are things that could be improved, but for the most part it's a fantastic experience.

all the anti grav walkways/the switches you shoot where it changes the gravity/never knowing what you'll see next (from seeing the earth below you as you press a switch and the alien spacecraft opens the window shutters/seeing a jumbo jet crashing into the space craft e.t.c

oh and not forgetting the portals strewn across the game (was gobsmaked the first time i saw one of those).

for all it's faillings,at least it was trying something different, and i for one think the game still is fantastic now :-)

Yeah, it was a pretty special FPS, the best thing done with Doom 3's engine. And it had portals before Portal :hehe: Not too long or difficult, but still, quite the journey i take every once in a while

I liked it but never owned a 360 to play it on. It's also one of the few native american characters in a video game ever. Awesome stuff. A little stereotypical but I can accept that in a ship full of aliens and because it was well done.

I've seen videos of this game but never played it---reminds me to much of Turok, but it does look interesting. also I think Bethesda now has the rights to Prey 2 so that's something.

I couldn't get over the language of the PC, my god did he have a foul mouth! I was also playing Metro 2033? at the time and the difference in player spoken lines was unbelievable.

I found out the game had music by MXPX on it. That was completely unexpected. I do plan to play the game when I get a computer with a better graphics card and all that stuff. Not just for the MXPX song, of course. There was a Prey sub-forum if I remember correctly. It went the way of a few other dead forums. The game also is no longer on Steam. Pretty sure you can still get disk versions to this day new, though. I hope.

Pretty scary and funny that digital codes could just run out like that. That's why it is not on Steam. A crazy sale for it caused the company giving the codes to not have enough to go around.

Since I love horror, this game seems right up my alley. Already am busy with Siren and Dementium The Ward, though. I also really do love MXPX. Their music is always refreshing to hear. It's like musical lemonade. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AbG3HTN7jc

You'll hate the first Yakuza. The rest of the series went on to just keep the original Japanese and subtitle it, but the English dub is filled to the brim with swearing. It's not F for fabulous, either.

Pretty sure the first Yakuza's English dub could be up there with Mafia II's amount of swearing. It gets hilarious and becomes charming when you get over the fact that every other word has a certain four letter F word in most scenes. Pretty sure the dub is the result of the fact that one method of translating Japanese to English is to put swearing in spots that are meant to be spoken rudely. Japanese doesn't actually have any true swearing, so replacing Japanese phrases that are just rude variations of neutral phrases with swearing kind of makes sense. It just so happens that it's best to actually read what your translation ends up being before making it public in any way...

Never know if going for the top ranking rude words sounds comical, after all.
