I'm working on leveling Enchanting for TEH PROFITZ, but I'm having some problems. As I enchant more things, the price of each item decreases. I've spent some time checking around, and this clearly happens to everyone; most people seem to agree that it's a bug, and it can be fixed by reloading a previous save, enchanting, and then loading the current save. Well, that's not working for me. Or rather, it worked the first time I did it, and now it doesn't work anymore.
First, I'm on a PC, with nothing but the base game and the high-res texture pack installed.
What happened the first time:
1. Take a stack of Silver Rings.
2. Save.
3. Enchant a couple dozen of them with Fortify Destruction, leveling up several times in the process. The value of the rings decreases with every level gained.
4. Save.
5. Reload the first save and enchant 1 ring with Fortify Destruction.
6. Reload second save; all rings have regained their full price; TEH PROFITZ.
What happens now:
1. Disenchant an Amulet of Minor Sneaking to learn the Fortify Sneak enchantment (to make sure this is the first time I've used it).
2. Save.
3. Enchant a bunch of Gold Emerald Rings with Fortify Sneak, leveling up several times in the process. The value of the rings decreases with every level gained.
4. Save.
5. Reload the first save and enchant 1 ring with Fortify Sneak.
6. Reload the second save; all rings are now valued at several hundred credits less than they were before. Loading the second save does not fix this.
Numbers, if it matters:
All rings are Gold Emerald, enchanted using a Common soul gem. I have no perks whatsoever in Enchanting.
Before any rings have been enchanted: Rings are worth 1232 gold.
After leveling up once: Rings are worth 1227 gold.
After leveling up twice: Rings are worth 1222 gold.
After saving, loading a different save, enchanting, and loading the save with all the rings again: Rings are worth either 918 or 908 gold.
This has happened consistently several times (I have saves during every part of this process so I can repeat/test it). Any ideas why/how to fix it? Is there something basic I'm missing?
EDIT: Aaaand can't change the title. Lack of spellcheck is a killer.
