Prima Guide

Post » Fri Oct 07, 2011 7:44 am

Hey guys! So I'm wondering if I should get the prima guide? I've never gotten one before, but I think I might get one for skyrim. Not because I think I'll have trouble but because I need something to read about skyrim while I'm away from the computer so I can lessen the effects of Skyrim withdrawl. :sadvaultboy: So should I leh get it?

I bought the Oblivion one and was given the fallout one as a gift, both had dozens of mistakes. Your choice.

I want to figure things out for myself. If I get really stuck I will search the internet for a solution.

Guides are for lazy people and little children who don't have an older sibling to help them... I am somewhat lazy but I'm not a child, so I will figure things out as I go along!

The internet is a wonderful source of information. I've made too many mistakes buying those. I'd avoid the guides and stick to figuring things on your own, or going to the internet if you're the cautious type.

I wouldn't, carry around the pamphlet included with the game. Bethesda does an awesome job making hose things beefy.

I won't buy a guide for a game like TES or FO, both are huge games with lots to discover. I'd rather discover these on my own than read about them in a book and then travel to them. That takes all the fun out of exploring. I'm tired of Oblivion because I know too much about the stuff in the world, theres nothing left to surprise me.

Also the UESP is a superb guide and its free.

I get the guides. I don't use them right away but there's a lot of info in there you can't get anywhere else and it's only around $16 on Amazon...can't beat that. Even just as a collector's item, it's fun to have. I've learned some things from them and you're right about flipping through it when you're away from the computer. Mine's already pre-ordered.

I'm getting one just to have it, to help convert friends and help them with quests. However i will never use it to aid me my first playthrough.

This is so full of falsehoods that it isn't funny. Guides are for people who wish to use them. Not everyone is as "Smart" as you.

I'm getting one because I'm a collector, it belongs in the colletion of my Elderscrolls items. I will also use it once I finish the game to make sure I didn't miss anything and because I enjoy reading.

Get off your high horse and please keep in mind that everyone needs help at some point in time.

Getting the Collector's guide just because I think it will go nice with my Collector's Edition :) 10 extra dollars for 100 extra pages of content! Also I'm getting it because I think it will be cool to look at later :D it is your choice though.

if your dedicated type who likes to collect things, then go ahead. If your the practical type, then don't get it. That's what Gamefaqs is for.

Edit: This thread was made in August? Damn thread necromancers! :swear:

How about in this forum we all agree to act older than a toddler and leave the insults behind? If a person wants to use the guide, fine, what's that to you? Play your way and leave others to do the same. But if all you can do is call people "lazy" and imply your way is the "smart way" then maybe you'd be happier talking about this on youtube where people are expected to act like morons.

I get them every now then depending on the game. For the likes of an RPG like TES or Fo3/NV or a sandbox like Saints Row/Just Cause i will definately buy it as they make for great reading and can go into great detail on what certain stats do to help optimize your character, plus while places like the vault and UESP are a great place, when a game is released it normally takes a week for the basics to be added.
