Spoken to aSaPp!5, I will be taking the role of King of Northpoint. Hope no-one objects :)

I will also RP another character. A knight or a squire, haven't decided yet. Character sheets to come.

I will post in a few minutes then. I wont receive an invitation, but wait for Athell to drag me into it.

I have Skype and Facebook, and I have both open whenever I am online.

Wow, amazing post, 'Sleeper. I love some of the imagery there. And the total change in tone from my post, haha. I hope some people got some of the hints and references tucked away in there, or at least one person recognised Syllawen's guest :)

This is gonna be one hell of an RP. Hopefully the posts won't all have to be that long though, ha. Pretty much everyone who is everyone has received a letter btw, all across High Rock. The Festival of Peace is a National Holiday.

He will, despite his suspicions. But how are we accommodating for the time it would take for a message to travel across High Rock?

Sorry, Athell
So you should be, so you should be. :glare:

EDIT:Question marks are important.

....Ah. Well, if we assume the invitations themselves utilized modern Bretony's highly efficient magical correspondence system...there still might not be enough time for all of this to work. If necessary I will bump my post back a bit, though I'll have to remove the part about grain-stores freezing. Evermore is snowy much of the year, so that much can stay. Most would travel by boat to Wayrest, and then probably up the Bjoulsae River, and then up the winding but well guarded mountain road to Evermore itself. If they are coming from Northern highrock, then a boat across the Bay of Hearts and then by road again. I imagine the journey from the Iliac would be safer, as Wayrest's navy is there to pretty much eliminate the possibility of pirates. It might be a fairly quick journey after all.

Carrier Bird? That is awesome. I was thinking something like there being magical post offices in major cities, for important coresspondance like this. Expensive but fast. So the letter could be sent off to Camlorn, Daggerfall, Northpoint, Wayrest or any other big city, and then travel by bird from there to a place like Urvanis. How is that?

Looking at the geography of High Rock, the journey to Evermore might not be that hard. Just have the letter received within good time to be able to make to Evermore by the 11th of Frostfall

That sounds like a good plan.

Yeah not difficult going but still a long way, perhaps a month on foot or a little shorter if we traveled by boat for some of the way, across the Iliac Bay and up the Bjoulsae river.

Then again, there is mage transport in Morrowind and Oblivion.

EDIT: I've done a little research, and it should be possible to make the journey in well under a month, if you were lucky enough to own your own navy, and be able to take any boat you wished. Boats are vastly faster than walking, and most of our characters would have the finest ships available. If the winds where favourable the journey would take a handful of days.

Yeah but considering the size of party a traveling duke brings, it's unlikely the mage's guild would want to transport 50 people.

Urvaius is landlocked, it's unlikely we'd have a proper navy, we could however hire some boats from Anticlere I guess.

Sleeper, I thought we discussed this? I am waiting.

Urvaius has a shore, doesnt it? Eh, we can just snag a ride with one of the others.

I thought i'd just make a general post. Our conversation about that never really had a conclusion, either. So hush :P

Markwasten is right next to Evermore, so it looks like Olybrius is just riding a horse.

The letters would arrive in at most five days. Magical correspondence to the the major cities would be instantaneous, then depending on how long the bird takes to fly would determine how long it would take to reach the recipient.

I agree, the Mages Guild would probably not like to send the whole Court of Daggerfall through magical transport :P

You guys can travel with Astien when he comes through. He's taking a boat out of Anticlere. Senhyn wont be attending, he hates Wayrest and anyone who follows them.

Also for currency we're doing the Dragon Age: Origins method.

100 Coppers = 1 Silver
100 Silver = 1 Gold Sovereign

1 Copper will buy you a loaf of bread or an apple.
3 Coppers for a tankard of beer
5 Silver for a good horse or well forged blade
10 Silver for a very nice blade fit for a noble

10 Silver for a house in the slums
25 Silver for a nice town house
50 silver for a real nice town house
150 Silver for a nice half/ mansion thing
200 silver for a mansion

Gold Sovereigns are rare to have except in nobility. 2 Gold Sovereigns could set up a commoner for life.

Boo! Actually that is pretty sensible, but can we at least call the coins septims or drakes? Maybe a Gold Septim could be a Sovereign (that sounds like it was meant to work like that..) and a copper a Drake? Just an idea to keep things lorey.

As for the letters, I'd half that estimate. Birds are fast. That gives everyone a little under a month to get to Evermore. Or I could push the date of my RP back again, to give people more time. Though snow in August is a little..

Btw, pretty much everyone should bookmark this: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Calendar

My opening post feels like crap and I'm only halfway through with it. :(

Track practice was very discouraging today so I'm not in the best of states for writing, yet I'm determined to get a post in tonight.

But it involves Athell's character so I'm going to wait until I can get approval from him to post it.
