Of Princes and Power - OOC Thread 5

So I did update the OP.

Then accidentally clicked out of the tab before I clicked save.

I'll do it again tomorrow. Too tired to mess with it tonight.

Now probably isn't the time you want to hear that the Beth forums always autosave posts and you never lose anything older than a minute while editing, is it? I don't know if they keep the autosaved versions overnight...

Asap, been wondering this for a while but... why is Camlorn so damned powerful, and why does it have four provinces...?

So disregard that last post of mine. I forgot about a stupid meeting I have Friday, so camping is out of the question. However, that means I can finish reading the rp thread and post up my own entrance and then start on some Lore!

Why wouldn't they be as powerful as they other major states of High Rock? Otherwise they wouldn't be a major state. Camlorn has prospered greatly under the Valtieri line, especially under Senhyn. They've opened the only major port on the North side of Highrock as well as gained the backing of Daggerfall. Their culture is also very Nordic and has the "No BS" ideals of the Nords. If Camlorn wants something, it takes it. It doesn't bother with all the little political parts.

That's explained in my history of Camlorn. However, a quick answer would be, the same reason Evermore, Northpoint, Jehanna, and Farrun are powerful. After the fracturing of the Empire there were a ton of small wars in High Rock. A few states surrounding Camlorn thought it would be a good idea to work together against the larger state. They ended up getting their ass whooped and then conquered (Senhyn is a militarist and has the idea that the only way you get what you want is by taking it with force).

It's hard to explain what really happened here in short, but when I post up the history then you can see how it grew so large. The reason it has four provinces is just because it either conquered them or they swore fealty to Camlorn. If you're meaning why Camlorn has 4 but places like Wayrest and Evermore only have 3, it's because fewer states were absorbed to one another in the Illiac than in the Wrothgarians. In the Illiac there were close to 50 states by themselves. Many of them were absorbed into larger states, and those into larger Kingdoms. There were a fewer number of individual states in the East.

So I just read Broken-Scale's post from April 7th about Elissa, the Baron of White Haven, and the son of the Duke of Thorkan interrupting the King's March. What should I do about the Duke of Thorkan? Play it off as if he's been with the procession the whole time and we pretend "son of the Duke of Thorkan" was simply an error? Or just forgo the whole thing and make my own way to Evermore?

Just ignore that. I wrote that when I thought I'd have to create characters for all of the more minor nobles. I'll edit it out when I can. Nothing more specific had been said about them.

Oh, and Asap, you wrote that Camlorn has the only major port on the North side of High Rock. But it's a part of the lore I've been coming up with for Northpoint that their Navy basically controls the trade routes to Skyrim, and thats why they were powerful/wealthy enough to expand their territory. Is that okay?

What I meant by that is that Camlorn is the only stop in the North after you've come through Northpoint or out of the Illiac. Northpoint is technically on the eastern side.
