Of Princes and Power - OOC Thread #10

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 12:17 pm

I thought Eagle Brook had been taken, yet through all my OOC skimming, I couldnt find someone (though it seems i'm just blind?). I can easily make Ernard the ex-mage lord of a small district within Eagle Brook, or if you are willing, make Ernard your character's ex-master.

My character is actually a Northpointian conqueror and has ruled Eagle`s Brook very recently. We could work out that Ernard was the previus Mage Lord who was deposed when Shornhelm lost the war. Tought seeing as my character likes Mages he could most likely still be living with prestige isolated somewhere.

Made my introductory post, giving a short insight on the characters of Gabriel and his daughter.

If you're wanting to do some character interaction, I'm down.

Nice crest, Magus! purpure, on a bend sinister sable a fleur-de-lis or.? If you didn't know. Yeah I know heraldry, I am that cool. Ladies, form an orderly line...

Also, i've written up the history of the Moonguard Revolt for everyone. It is again penned by a Wayrestian scholar, to give it some nice texture. Its pretty essential reading for anyone interested in how the political make-up of High Rock ended up how it is today. It's long but, um, full of stuff. Hope you guys like it, I'll add it to the wiki in a bit.

Why thank you, had to spend a good two hours looking through various sects of the internet and then another hour to design the crest.

And my compliments to you good sir on your magnificent piece of writing!I humbly kneel at your feet in awe of such skill, etc. etc. but seriously, that's awesome lorefluff.

Very nice lore, Vincent. I especially like the second take on it: there are always two sides to every story. The background information gives a ton of room for roleplay in this new timeline. Original and well-written, mind you.

Wait, what? Why not just keep White Haven where it was and just rename Auvernge to Darrington? And where are all of the changes? I feel l missed something, because I have no idea what anything is named if you've been changing the names of all of the various provinces.

And why have my stars become hearts?

I'm so confused. I leave for a few days to have fun in Frisco and everything goes weird

It's all my fault, I wanted to clean things up and.move around the borders to make things make more sense . Auvernge was too small, had a RL bretony name and had no capital. I had it gobble up Whitehaven, with the old province of Whitehaven gaining the lorey name of Wrothmark. Imagine all this happened at the start :P. It's an improvement, trust me!

Well, can White Haven still be two words? Because I'm never (ever ever) going to remember to write it as one, and it's in one of my characters' name.

Of course. I prefer one word as it looks more like a real place, but that's just my preference . I don't think Beth really understood how place names work, tbh...

It's two words. That's how I've always had it on my map.

Anyways I'll be finishing up that map sometime soon so everyone can use it.

So I'm editing my CS's to fit in Vincent's lore. ASAP, I dunno if you remember, but we had the Edwore gain Bhoriane about 30 years ago (I figured right after the Oblivion Crisis) in exchange for an alliance between the two. Just making sure that's all good, and it explains why the destruction of Bhoriane by the Orcs would affect the Moorcroft dynasty directly, because that city was (and still is) held within the bloodline when it was sacked.

Is that good for everyone?

Maybe an alliance by marriage , two houses joining, or something? A military alliance would seem slightly less valuable, unless thetwo had been planning to sucede for a long time, if that makes sense . Both belonged to Elysana until 4E 18.

If ASAP is fine with that then it works for me too. The Moorcrofts have no shortage of minor members of the dynasty who could've been joined to a minor members of the Camlorn dynasty

Minor to minor works well.

Perhaps a marriage to one of Senhyn's nieces or nephews?

Yeah niece or nephew works good, whatever you think most suitable from your side.

It would probably make most sense for a Moorcroft niece to marry a male from your dynasty, so that she would go live in Camlorn somewhere, rather than one of your dynasty coming to live in Kambria.

Nononono, you misread me. I thought you meant the alliance between Bhoriane and Kambria. The Camlorns come into things after 4E18, they aren't involved before then. Did you read my lorefluff I posted on the previous page? Bhoriane and Kambria belong to Wayrest until Kambria starts the Moonguard Revolt, the final result of which is Senhyn riding in to smash a Wayrest army and then sign a peace treaty to take Bhoriane and Kambria.

Yes I read it. Though Kambria and Bhoriane owed fealty to Wayrest, I had Bhoriane becoming the property of the Moorcroft dynasty right after the Oblivion Crisis, I guess now as a grant from Wayrest if that works. Bhoriane is "allied" with Kambria because Count Edwore granted it to his son as his own fief soon after bringing the city into his County.

EDIT: So yeah, I guess an alliance between Camlorn and Kambria makes no sense until the Rebellion.

Really it all depends on whether you're fine with the fact that Count Moorcroft was given Bhoriane after the Oblivion Crisis. Maybe the ruler of Bhoriane was killed during the Crisis, and in the mess of the aftermath, it was just easier to give Bhoriane over rather than place someone else on the throne who the locals weren't as familiar with, because I have it that Marcel (the Count's heir) led efforts in the southern Kambria/northern Bhoriane area to combat the Daedra, so the Moorcroft dynasty was already respected in the area.

Aah, okay. I think some local agreement would make more sense, IE, the ruling houses of Bhoriane and Kambria coming together, or something else ona local level. Elysana doesn't give hand-outs, and it is none of her business (why would she even care?) who rules what city on the edge of her empire, as long as it is being ruled well. I'm thinking that the taxes she imposed on Bhoriane and the area, plus the fact she was giving almost nothing back, were some of the reasons for the Moonguard thing. I don't know, they just rebelled, you can write up why if you like.

There may well have been an Alliance between Kambria and Camlorn before the Revolt though, if you like. Really, as long as the broad sweep of the events described in those two bits of fluff stays the same, I don't care. It's none of my business .

God, every day I feel like I'm turning into more of a horrible dictator as GM of this thing. I'm so so sorry...I'm becoming a monster :/

Just checking. Lebiro, you play both Count and Countess of Markwasten, right?

Also, I'll try to get my post in ASAP. Hopefully this week. I've just gotta get some of my school work done.

lebiro does indeed. Hope I didn't put too much strain on you there with Elysana's mission, its little more than a nudge to get characters interacting. To tell the truth, getting both the Countess AND Gaston isn't necessarily important for Elysana's plan. Post whenever you have time man, Real Life comes first, sadly. I'm just here working from home and being omnipresent, always got a tab opened on the forums o.o. Not everyone has this luxury.
