I have a question about where Princess Odette would be sleeping and eating. The way I envisioned it the Colisande-family that rules Menvia did not have the nescessary funds to send servants and guards with the Princess. Being of such low rank too she is not important enough to be the target of assassination or kidnapping.

Will she be sleeping in the castle or will she have to find a hotel in the city? I was thinking she would have her own room at the castle during the festival where she would sleep and eat if not invitet for meals.

Castle Evermore is actually a castle within a castle within a castle. With probably a few more castles spread throughout. :P

There's a distinctive wall separating the lower city from the "Castle district" I guess you could say. Which is nothing but manors, curtain walls, bulwarks, and towers, an surrounds the actual castle (called the citadel). Most everyone who received a personal invitation has a manor to stay in. So, it is highly likely that she'll have a nice cozy house to sleep in, including a few servants provided by the most gracious Queen of Evermore.

Not really. :P

Though, Vincent should really get on that. Seeing as it's as big as it is.

No, there is no map. A laughable idea. Knowing where everything is in relation to each other is for servants, and who would want to ask them? If you are lost, just get a local to point you vaguely in the right direction. You;ll end up there eventually. :)

That would be the most logical approach for our characters, but Noel would sometimes sneak around at night so it would be kinda neat for me to know where in the Castle district the different manors were located.

Of course I could just make it all up.

You learn fast. It's normally referred to as the Castle City, or sometimes just Castle Evermore. The bits that actually belong to Syllawen and are not the stately homes of the biggest families in the Kingdom are so mixed up that most people don't even know the difference, other than the guards who patrol the endless battlements. There is absolutely no chance of there ever being a map of it, it is just too big and chaotic for that to be possible. It is quite vertical full of courtyards quadrangles and little twisting stairwells that lead to new areas, in some places there are giant playfields left open, in others houses are literally attached to the side of the mountain for want of space. I could link you to some posts where I try to describe it if you like, but I don't say much more than I just did there. Its also got loads of towers, too? Fine place to sneak around in actually, should be really fun.

Ah, that paints a pretty clear picture of it. So basically it is like Sheogorath was in charge of the layout? :P

What kind of style are the buildings? I kinda imagine them to be like the houses in Cheydinhal, only with more stone and slightly more artistic.

A mix of Cheydinhal and Skingrad, yeah. Actually, I'm going to quote some past passages of mine where I struggled at describing the Castle City for you, because I am nice:

Castle Evermore

Before Evermore was a Kingdom, before Evermore was a city, it had been a castle. And in the castle, a tower. This original stone massing, wrapped tight in two era's worth of additions, turrets and halls, bulwarks and buttresses of every shape free to the imagination of the greatest architects throughout High Rock's long history, itself displayed the height of the classical Direnni style, ignorant though its current occupier may be. The Direnni, that intrepid Altmer clan who brought so much of Tamriel under their yoke, in eons past, had made Towers such as Evermore in each part of their domain. In youthful naiviety, each of these great outposts had been built in the image of Crystal-Like-Law, but in the grey, grim stone of Wrothgaria. In the ages that passed, the Direnni's sphere of influence shrunk, and each of these towers, which marked the perimeters of their heartland, fell. Except Evermore. Even once the boundaries of the Direnni Empire fell back upon Balfiera, and they were resigned to rule only over the Adamantine Tower itself, Evermore remained standing. The Tower of Evermore's epithet proved no boast. Perched high in easternmost Wrothgaria, like a chimney to the mountain, Evermore has to this day never been taken by forceful siege. When Evermore did change hands, to become a human holding, it was out of politeness, no more.

Around that ancient tower, countless more have grown. Mirroring the pine wood that stretches out all around it, Castle Evermore is a forest of turrets, looping fortifications that snake out into the city around it. Here and there, neighbourhoods are sectioned off by high walls, grand court-yards of stately homes, built upon plateaus that jutt out or into the great mountain. There is no logic to Evermore, its shape seems the result of whimsy before anything else: in some places houses have been built upon sheer cliff-faces, in others whole areas have been left as playing fields, while hovels latch onto the walls outside. As the steep climb of the mountainside on which Evermore is placed eases, Castle Evermore comes to an abrupt end, one final high stone barricade, rising thirty feet, resplendent with gleaming portcullis, offers the Grand Boulevard of Evermore City the winding path through the Castle itself. Out of this border, the last great snakes of Castle Evermore's fortified walls protrude, ending in round towers, placed strategically among the the sprawling city. For centuries, this marked the end of Evermore, though in recent eras, a second city, a tight bunch of boroughs has spread out beneath. Here the architecture shifts. While inside the walls, the great stately homes of Evermore's aristocracy are built in the pompous, turreted-stone Direnni style, outside even the grandest estates are pine-wooden, and almost Nordic in their arrangement. Preposterously angled triangular roofs poke out from every home, catching the snow that falls on Evermore most of the year round, the walls themselves wooden-panelled, and painted in picturesque colours. Through the richer areas of Evermore, hugging the large, classical Boulevards that extend first from the First Gate to the Castle, and then outwards, are of mostly Bretonish style, many of the poorer boroughs are entirely ethically Bjoulsae. For many years Evermore, itself an Elven and then Bretonish stronghold, has ruled over the wild, noble horse-people of that great river, and in time has brought a large multitude to live, hugging the high walls of its castle. The rugged Bjoulsae are particularly found among the eastern quarters of the City, along that shore of the River Ceylar, Evermore's tributary to the Bjoulsae, which escapes from Castle Evermore through a great waterfall, exploding into stately gardens as it reaches city-level.

aaaand

At the end of the Grand Boulevard, the main streets of Evermore met in the Royal Court, where stood the giant, gleaming gates to Castle Evermore, the city within the city. At this point, the usual dwellings of Evermore - wooden constructions in the whimsical Bretonish style, finished with high, slanting roofs, gave way to a commanding, unforgiving wall of stone, the separation between Castle and City. At the sight of Evermore's auspicious guests, the grand portcullis was raised, and the glittering host was allowed through that giant gatehouse, into a large, regal courtyard; part welcoming yard, part killing zone in the advent of a siege. From every direction, archers watched warily, tiny black dots high on their battlements. In its long history, Castle Evermore had never been taken by force.

From the courtyard there were three more exits, each with a smaller portcullis, into the winding, medieval streets of the castle itself, each leading to a different courtyard, were stately homes mixed with the battlements of the fortress itself. Directly before them winded one such path, half garden half castle, and above them still towered the giant halls of the Citadel itself, an illogical, impossible forest of paraqets and halls, buttresses flying in every direction like roots of some great tree. Rising up from this great building, far away from where the company had penetrated, loomed Syllawen's Palace, a wide, squarish keep among a glamorous array of towers, itself the size of a respectable castle. The scale of Castle Evermore was what assaulted the mind, it had no grounding in reason or logic. In years past, the Direnni, with wealth immeasurable, had lavished their resources upon Evermore, building a metropolis of the castle. As their empire contracted and fell, there was never again the populace to fill the castle, or else the custodians of Evermore were never wont to open the gates of the castle to any but the most selected families. So the castle remained huge, so ridiculously oversized for its populace, while a new, poorer city grew outside its outer walls.

There are probably others, but you get the idea.

So what does it take to become Lord of Koegria?

If you're still accepting Character Applications, that is.

Ask nicely and post a character sheet. In all seriousness, you are welcome to join, though there are parts of High Rock with more empty spaces than Wayrest (Wayrest, well, only having one, after all). An advantage to ruling there being you get plenty of neighbours I guess!

One note, if you make a character sheet for the Count of Koegria, keep in mind that he or she would have been installed almost exactly ten years ago, when the previous, rebelling family was cast out for their betrayal. Its, uh, part of a piece of lore history I've been promising to write up for a few days now. I'll try to get on it tomorrow.

In other news, I finally caught up with my reading of the thread! Woo! I enjoyed the new style in Athell's post, but more than anything, I think I already love AyumiFan's Noel. Everything in that long introductory post was gold, very much including the exotic Khajiiti fiance.

Sorry for taking so long with my last post, it has been a real headache for me getting through the writers block on that one. I think I am on the other side now though. I bloody love this party scene. Almost worth the near-year long wait for it...

In the IC thread it's under "Wayrest", so I would guess it's part of Wayrest.

I thought we had decided that Geruld was the installed Duke of Koegria? Now that he's like, you know, not among the living, the title would, in theory, fall back to Elysana since Geruld had no heirs, which means she'd install a new ruler.

Hehe

Yeah, I drew heavily off the timeline in the creation of this. While not considered canon in this series, due to the fact that it would negate the chance to play it out in a new way, KSS and SoS will be the backgrounds for the Hammerfell portion of the series when it comes that time. Certain things and ideas from the timeline were just too good to let go.

And you can count me in on the next IBT RP. Can't forget my roots can I?

EDIT: Also, Broken Scale, I'll have a post up for Astien tomorrow hopefully. Sorry to keep you waiting so long. This week turned out to be rather busy.

I see that Of Princes and Power has popped up again and have been busy tweaking my character, my realm and designing a military for it, here is the finished result, you may delete any other characters I have created, however here is the new and improved Julius Scipion, now with 20% more sailor-speak:

Name: Julius Scipion
Titles: Count of Felway, Marshal of the Steel Wolves, Supreme High Librarian of the Felway University and archives and if one was to ask his citizens in Felway where he could be found, they'd look at you and say "Do ye mean the Stormlord?".

Age: 561
Gender: Male
Race: High Elf

Appearance:

Julius stands at 6’2; he has jet black hair with touches of grey in the hairline, he lacks any form of muscle being a mage, Julius has a weather-beaten his muscles long gone and occasionally rolls his right shoulder which has wolf claw scars on if ever seen, his right leg is also a prosthetic limb and Julius walks with an extremely noticeable limp and utilises a cane to help him, as such he can't run anywhere anymore, though he can still ride his horse and sail.

Julius has grey eyes and appears slightly more pale than a usual high elf of his kind he is clean shaven and chooses to wear his hair in a smooth wave style (See Oblivion), Julius is often deep in thought and so his face reflects this with frown lines, giving him the appearance of some absent-minded grandfather.

Skills:
His Magic skills are limited to two schools, Restoration and Destruction, though he has mastered both, in destruction he knows only frost and shock spells.

As a noble(sort of) Julius is well-versed in diplomacy and having lived among sailors knows how to engage the commoner without alienating them. He can count money and finally more miscellaneously he can ride a horse with masterful skill, his leg doesn't affect him in the saddle so he often rides his horse through the country.

He also plays a lot of Instruments, has invented one called a “Piano” of which he is regarded as the master of. Writing music eagerly awaited by many a musician in tamriel. He does falconry and gardening. He’s also a Bibliophile and keen Connoisseur of wine.

Julius also specialises in clockwork mechanisms, Astronomy, sailing and finally Fishing.

Inventory:

Julius is often wearing his Highly Shined Black leather shoes, Black trousers, a black Waistcoat, a Black Tailcoat with a white collared shirt, a white cravat(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Neckcloth.JPG) and a simple steel circlet, if it's cold he'll wear a wolfskin cloak.

Though when duty calls for something more, court-worthy, he’ll wear a Black & Burgundy Outfit(from oblivion), a wolf-skin cloak and his steel circlet, though when dancing he’ll wear black shoes with gold buckles, black breeches, a white cravat(regency style) with a beige waistcoat and a royal blue tailcoat.

For Battle he wears his surgeon robes, Julius doesn't fight on the front line, whilst he sometimes wishes he could, Julius knows his abilities are better suited to healing rather than death-dealing.

His weapons is his http://pics.myarmoury.com/ebe_collection_nathan03_s.jpg( the third one down from the top), which now is hung on his wall above his fireplace, he doesn't use it anymore, he never has he was given it as a gift from Uriel Septim V, instead relying on his magical abilities.

Julius is very rarely without his violin when travelling, he has memorised all of his compositions and so likes to play them in the evening whilst the sun is setting, a sort of ritual he’s adopted and finally Julius utilises a cane most of the time, though his leg can stand on it's own, It hurts like hell to julius and he'll collapse if he strains it.

In his http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110727092537/pirates/images/1/1a/OSTBarbossaPegLeg.jpg, Julius keeps a special canister which holds a bottle of rum, to help him through boring situations, once he detached his leg in front of some self-centred duke and downed his rum, causing quite a stir in noble circles.

Personality:

Though the son of a lord, Julius is often called eccentric, mainly as he engages in active labour with his citizens, such as working down at the docks or generally helping out where he can when he is present at his capital town, as such he’s more at home with the commoner than with the nobles, though he knows exactly how to speak with his “Fellow” nobles.

Julius is prone if pushed enough to an explosive snap of his temper and has been called rather blunt when delivering news. He’s a serious altmer, but with a reason he’ll be good company, cracking jokes and engaging in songs and the sort.

Background:

Julius was born to his parents Lord Alecor Scipion and his mother Lilia Scipion his parents were both high elves, who met on the glorious field of battle, screw it, the truth was it was actually in a tavern, ‘twas love at first sight, a Fletchers daughter and Altmer lord, after a few rolls in the hay (literally) the two married and then after about five years Julius Popped out in 2E 796.

Well, long story short for this section. Lilia died at childbirth, Alecor committed suicide and the Grandparents of the future Count of Felway sent Julius off at the age of six to the mysterious land of Cyrodiil, there Julius proceeded to run off from the crumbling imperial city at twelve years old, escaping onto a ship and there sailing around Tamriel, then at thirty-eight Julius decided he wanted to settle down, so Julius promptly landed at Felway, became it's lord and built his castle, years passed and Julius heard rumour of a rising general in Cyrodiil so Julius decided his skills as a healer would be better used to help this general, the general's name was Tiber Septim.

Serving under Tiber Septim as a Medical officer in the Imperial Legion present at every battle of the Tiber Wars. Julius was present at the coronation of Emperor Tiber Septim and for his service was awarded with more land for his small holding, now he was Count of Felway. Years passed and Julius was not bothered, each year he wrote a musical masterpiece, painted a masterpiece, collected wine’s and books, invented new restoration techniques and ran his county with a fair hand, his Steel Wolves renowned for their Discipline as they patrolled the borders.

In 3E 413 Julius was called to oversee the birth of Daric Caron, his skills however weren’t called upon, though he has always had a fond spot for Daric, on his visits to Northpoint Julius always challenges the king to a game of chess(he taught the king how to play chess as a young child). In 3E 433 Julius watched as the Oblivion Gates opened. Setting up quarantine areas around the Oblivion Gates, Julius managed to have some of his guards close the ones near major population centres and then quickly sent off his entire force of Steel Wolves to assist Northpoint, such is his devotion to Northpoint.

There were 1,111 Steel Wolves at first, but only 742 came back, Felway had paid a heavy price, but Julius still remained steadfast in his loyalty to Northpoint and when war was declared on Shornhelm, Julius promptly pledged his whole army to the cause of his king. Sending his two legions, Julius served in the rear as a healer, at the end of the War Julius fused the remnants of his two legions into one legion, then cut the number of Steel wolves to its current number before embarking on a small naval building scheme which was successful and so Julius has currently lent his Seven Ships to Northpoint.

The current ruler of County Felway is Count Julius Scipion, they also have a special merchant vessel called the http://www.artilim.com/painting/d/dawson-montague/rollicking-days.jpg, the design details of which is jealously guarded from the prying eyes of the other realms. To make a brief explanation, they are ships which take the main export of Felway on very fast delieveries, the cargo in question is the great crop that is oats.

Wow, really nice lorefluff there. Sorry for renaming your County, I thought you had gone. I think you'll agree Felway is a way more awesome name anyway. One or two querries though, firstly, why does Felway field enlightenment-era european style cavalry in a renaissance fair gunpowderless universe? Secondly, one Galleon and six Carricks is a rather huge fleet for a small county on the north coast, particularly considering that as gunpowder has not been invented, there would be little use for all of those decks. Generally, local Counts would not have enough money to maintain a personal navy. Uh, thirdly, you are not naming those rivers the Blue Danube and the Rhine. See me after class, bad boy, detention, etc. Make up your own bloody names, that is awful, those are the two most famous rivers in europe, shame on you :P. Um..fourthly, are we to take it that everyone who has ever said that the Direnni are the only ruling house of elves in human lands were wrong then because none of them knew about your character? It is long established lore that the Direnni are the only elves outside of Morrowind, Summurset Isle and Valenwood that rule (Syllawen only took control 2 years ago, long after any in-game sources). Um..fifthly and finally, actually, wait, that is it.

Those points aside, I really like this new fluff. It's good work, looking forward to having you back.

Only thing about that is that I have a character (Ser Barron of White Haven - several decades ago, Ser Barron Mercier - The White Knight of the North and Lord Commander of the Stormguard) that I've already established as the uncle of the current Baron of White Haven, if that affects your interest on the spot.

Are you going to continue on with the character you made during the first run of this as well? You were Gabriel Loup, right?

EDIT: Also, I want to claim Auvernge, if that's okay. I'll post a sheet as soon as I get a computer.
