Of Princes and Power

I have an idea for a character, well characters, but I'm not sure if it'd work. Basically a Bandit group of Reachmen who intend to use the upcoming civil war for their own benefit and sell themselves as Mercenaries to the highest bidder.

That would work, I'm sure someone would like to hire you. Maybe Syllawen? That would be an odd new addition to one of her parties. :P

I'm thinking of making a knight and heir to the county of Gwened, but he would spend most of his time at the court of Syllawen. You know ... PARTY !!! :P

I'll finish his sheet as fast as possible. I'm not sure yet about the court mage. I don't remember if it was mentioned in the op but what happened with Direnni tower ?

I've just realised that Urvaius no longer has a link to the sea, I'll have to make a change to my CS. I'll get round to it once I've finished writing some fluff for Urviaus.

Pretty much the only thing Syllawen is good at other than having a good time/racking up notches on her bed-posts is getting on with wild, witchy types. She'd simply adore the presence of a Reachman or two in her court. The more likely something is to annoy the stuffy old nobility, the more likely Queen Syallwein Direnni is to do it.

Awesome stuff. I'm writing up a short recent history of Evermore and her dominions at the moment. The rough sketch of Gwened I have is that its a more sparsely populated, rural provence that is extremely loyal to Evermore (more so than any other of Syllawen's dominions) What the royal family think as a whole of her I leave up to you. Actually if you have a better idea for the make-up of Gwened give me a PM

I dunno if this is okay with the GMs, but I have a few ideas for what has been going on in Balfiera and clan Direnni (Syllawen's family). IMO they would have pretty much kept out of most of the in-fighting since the Warp in the West, Modera Direnni still the custodian of Ada-Mantia and the Queen of Belfiera. They are probably being quietly prosperous and getting down with arcane research, as usual. I don't see the Direnni having made any big political power play. Syllawen is an exception to the rule, and she was simply married off into nobility to get rid of her more than anything else.

Sounds good to me. :)

I'll leave you in charge of anything that deals with Balfiera and the Direnni tower.

Also, PFA. We need to get together and work out a history and synopsis on Camlorn. Since it's so closely tied with Daggerfall I thought you might have some ideas to work into it.

Added a new section to Elissa's sheet detailing a couple important people to her.

I'm also still waiting for someone else to join the Northpoint side. Come on, we have cookies!

Yeah you can still join. Back in the day (as in about a year ago) PFA and I hosted a High Rock RP, and took part in another one two years before that. If you've got any questions on High Rock, he could probably answer them; if it's urgent and he isn't on at the time, come and see me, because I know a decent amount from experience.

Anyhow, Asap, you are confusing the hell out of me with all of these different names...why couldn't we just leave the names like they are in lore? >.< I'll do the other two princes when I can.

I'm still trying to come up with a character. I'm worried that any noble I make will turn out to just be a copy of Terentius from the IBT.

Umm dude, those are all of the names from Lore, at least all of the ones that were there. I got rid of almost all the ones I made up and replaced them with the names of the biggest town that was in their borders. The only states that were detailed in lore where the ones around the Illiac and most of those have been consolidated into other states or disbanded. None of the kingdoms in Daggerfall or Camlorn have made up names, none of the Kingdoms in Evermore or Wayrest have made up names, and only 2 in each of Northpoint, Jehanna, Farrun, and Sharnhelm have made up names.

The rest have legitimate names taken from their cities or from lore. I thought we went over this already. :P

Yes. Just know that you will have to make another character as well and be able to stick around for the duration of the RP and know how to properly play a large political part. Have you ever done any roleplays before?

That's no big deal man. Terentius is a great character. I wouldn't mind if you ported him right over :P

Tell me about it. My first draft for Syllawen was Elysanna/Morgiah without any alternations (apart from Golden skin...). I got round it just by removing her main strength (being amazingly manipulative/intelligent) with massive amounts of sentimentality and a love of writing bad poetry and throwing wild orgies parties.

You could try something like that. As in, take an archetype you are comfortable with and then turn it on its head. Leaving your comfort zone is fun (I've never Rped a character anything like this..)

Cool beans. I'll put you down for here.

Hey Broken Scale, do you think you could play as the King/Queen of Northpoint? I think in conjunction with Elissa you could play the whole family rather well. However if it's too much of a load don't worry about it.

I'll probably make a character that's a Knight of the Wolf for my 3rd character soon.

Ascended Sleeper, do you think you could take on the role of a noble under Camlorn or Daggerfall?

I'm trying to get things a bit more filled up so it doesn't feel like 3 guys fighting 3 other guys across a bay. Does anyone else think they could take on playing one of the minor lords of a Kingdom? I'm scratching Jehanna and Farrun for now so we can populate Northpoint, Sharnhelm, Wayrest, Daggerfall, Evermore, and Camlorn.

I say we cut Jehanna out completely and if it's necessary, cut out North Point too and just focus on Wayrest vs. Daggerfall.

I'll make a noble under Wayrest.

Thanks man, that really helps out.

I feel kind of bad asking for people to take on parts, but I fear that if we don't have the appearance of being "Populated" in the actual RP then it will get somewhat boring.

And no, Northpoint is an important middle ground for the RP that could decide the outcome of the entire war. Part of the RP is trying to gain the support of Northpoint.

It's no big deal. I only made Terentius in KSS because the Knights of the Nine needed a leader in Rihad, and he developed into one of my favorite characters of all time. Maybe something similar could happen here.

I actually think new players should flock to Sharnhelm and Northpoint. Evermore is (fingers crossed) looking pretty well populated at the moment. Kalamari and possibly Quentillius will be popping up somewhere in Syllawen Direnni's dominion, as well as Gavris.

I'm thinking of having a secondary character who is an Orc, or possibly a knight from one of Syllawen's lands. Wayrest could do with some more characters too, come to think of it. If we all have more than one character this should work out.

EDIT: I'd be happy to RP the character Elysanna, but I have no interest in controlling the overall nation of Wayrest. I'll have my hands full enough with Evermore, I'm afraid. Really Elysanna is such an awesome character, I'm surprised people aren't jumping up to play her.

I can do that. I'll try to get sheets up for them. Maybe. Or maybe I'll just do a quick write up for them and have them basically be NPCs. I don't know yet.

Here's my character sheet. I thought it would be nice to get a non-Breton in here.

Name: Gratian Olybrius
Title: Count of Markwasten
Age: 41
Race: Imperial
Gender: Male

Appearance: Gratian’s years of stress and wear are quite visible. His hair is already mostly gray, and wrinkles are already beginning to develop on his face. At a height of nearly six feet and a weight just above 160 pounds, he is of average size for an Imperial male. Although Gratian appears much older than he actually is, he is still quite fit and capable, and his clear blue eyes gleam with intelligence and capability.

Skills: Olybrius is skilled at combat, especially with a sword and as part of a formation due to his legion training and years of experience. However, his true talents are for administration and strategy, which he developed over the course of his long service as an officer of the Imperial Legion and later as a mercenary in High Rock.

Equipment (Weapons, armor, misc.): Gratian keeps his fine steel Legion armor and weaponry in good condition, although he has had the emblems of his specific unit removed.

Background: Gratian Olybrius was born into a family with a long tradition of service in the Imperial Legion during the twilight of the Cyrodiilic Empire. While he was too young to fight the Daedric hordes during the Oblivion Crisis, the political situation afterwards left plenty of opportunities for fighting. He enlisted at the age of seventeen, and his competence and calmness in the face of danger enabled him to rise swiftly through the ranks, eventually becoming a commander of an entire cohort. Unfortunately for him, in 4E 20, his legion was disbanded due to financial shortfalls, leaving him free to make his own way in the world.

Lost, Gratian and some of his more trusted soldiers from the Legion headed north into High Rock where they began to serve as mercenaries. Their discipline and training made them successful in that profession, although never wildly so. Gratian’s golden opportunity arose in 4E 25 when the Count of Markwasten began to plot secession from Wayrest. While interrogating the disloyal count’s son on an unrelated contract, he learned of the conspiracy and brought it to Queen Elysana’s attention. She commissioned Gratian and his troops to eliminate her scheming vassal in return for the count’s title and lands, and the Legion veteran gladly accepted. Olybrius and his men ambushed the Count of Markwasten while he was out hunting, and with the backing of Elysana, he entered the town of Azra’s Crossing and was proclaimed the new count.

Maybe you and Wooly can work something out.

And yeah having two characters is not really that hard to play and it doubles the number of characters from 11 to 22+ which is a huge jump.

I can do that. I'll try to get sheets up for them. Maybe. Or maybe I'll just do a quick write up for them and have them basically be NPCs. I don't know yet.
