Private Servers for 360?

Post » Fri Aug 13, 2010 8:21 am

Checked the FAQ and 1st 2 pages, and was wondering if this has been said yet

If not I see it being another Killzone 3 let down -_-

Q: Will there be dedicated servers?
A: Dedicated servers will be available for Brink on PC. It will be peer-to-peer on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network

If you want to play a private match you can, just make it invite only and only let your buddies in.

It doesn't say that in the FAQ, you don't even know if you can make it invite only

Just because its not in the FAQ doesn't mean the info doesn't exist. At first I thought your were talking about dedicated servers but I was mistaken.

You can. I know this since the devs have said it in interviews. I know most of what's going down in Brink.

Also the http://www.fragworld.org/frag/brink/the-fragworld-brink-compendium.html

In Brink, players will be able to, at a glance, see where all their friends are and what they’re doing, and jump directly into their games. Once they’re together in a mission, they can opt to stick together so they won’t get split up to different teams or different servers.

Basically, when you’re playing through a campaign, when you’re about to start a new mission, there are two simple choices you can make:

1. do you want to play solo, co-op, or versus?
2. if online, do you want to play with just your friends, or with anyone?

You make that choice and then launch the mission. Depending on what you chose, the game will either:

1. set a match up for you specifically that only your friends can get into, or it will
2. find a public match that gives you everything you need (an open slot on the faction you’re playing, a good ping, etc.),
3. or just let you play completely by yourself with no one else getting in except people you invite.

By the way why ask if you don't trust the answer?

Killzone 3 is a PS3 game... and there are no private servers except on the PC.

Well, on multi-console games I suppose. PS3 Exclusives usually get a lot of love from Sony and end up with dedicated servers (e.g. Uncharted 2, MAG, Killzone 2, etc.), and I think maybe Halo Reach has dedicated servers. :P

It is P2P but you can have private matches.

Killzone 2/3 have dedicated servers and the ability to create private servers like in fighting games where you limit the slots for players and have reserves for your friends. No way it would be as bad as the P2P on Call of Duty. :yuck:

Also homefront, pity they made it a COD style matchmaking. Frontlines you could choose your servers.

Counter strike on the xbox had dedicated servers , they were lag free and brilliant so dedicated servers are doable on console , id definatly pay for a dedi server on 360.
