Private Shards

Post » Wed Feb 12, 2014 2:37 am

I'm sure this topic has been mentioned before but I wanted to get some metrics on it. How would you guys feel if you had the ability to make your own shard on the Mega server so you could play through Tamriel with just your friends? Or even by yourself?

Think Diablo II in terms of accessibility and simplicity. Type in the game name and password and you join that shard!

Discuss and vote!

EDIT: Personally. It's an MMO and I prefer to have my world populated. But sometimes MMO questing can get overpopulated and frustrating. During times like these i'd probably retreat to a private shard to focus on the quest at hand.

I would think that this [censored] single player is much worse than Skyrim and then I would play Skyrim.

Private shards defeat the entire purpose of this being an MMO.

I voted no, because i like meeting new people, helping out or being helped when needed. I will also be playing teso by myself so need to make new friends here. Only thing i suggest to be locked like you suggest would maybe be a guild city or housing if ever (not sure) is implemented. If they had private shards i would bet more than 75% would be locked is the reason i wouldnt suggest it.

I would never play a private shard because you are taking away from the game developers who made the game, this is the problem with people today

Musicians have stopped making quality music and just autotune stuff why? cause its not worth the time and effort anymore cause ppl will just private share it and steal it

Game developers have stopped making quality games and just throw out some generic crap why? cause its not worth the time and effort anymore cause ppl will just private server it and steal it

I can go on and on but whats the point? if you want quality games then you need to be willing to PAY for those quality games to be developped otherwise eventually quality games will cease to be

Please reread the OP. What i'm suggesting would be implemented by the game developers not people stealing the game and hosting it on a private server.

A mega-server broken into channels means:

*No persistent world, so you won't get to know people and make friends over time. You friend them immediately, or you never see them again.

*No way to form and sustain a mature environment, or escape a bad one.

*No dedicated roleplaying server.

I'm not thrilled about the idea of a mega-server, but time will tell...

It would be great for Roleplayers. I'd probably use it exclusively.
