Probable mod problem - sleep is illegal

Post » Tue Apr 05, 2011 9:46 pm

I've just reloaded Morrowind and put together a reasonably modded game before I got started. But I seem to have run into a bug which I assume must be caused by one of / a combination of the mods that I'm using. I can't sleep anywhere in town, as far as I can tell. Whether I find an empty room with a bed, hire a bed for the night or try to use Caius Cosades' bed I always get the message about sleeping here being illegal.

Here's my mod order.

The mod order is from mlox and according to mlox it is fully optimised.

I'm hoping someone recognises the problem as a known issue with one of the above, or at least can tell me where I might look to solve the problem so as to avoid playing the brute force search remove-one-mod-at-a-time game.

Thanks in advance.

That's odd. Do you have a journal update after your first conversion with Caius?

Yes, several. Including the key one about being inducted into the Blades.

Not one I've heard of (although MCA seemed to do something with beds). Anyhoo, maybe one of your mods is messing with the "Bed_Standard" script. Try searching your *.es* files for that string, you could use Windows' own search function or a program like Wingrep or Inforapid Search & Replace.

Oh, "Clean Chargen_Revamped_v2_3.esp" seems to have gone through a number of revisions recently (on PES). It's been hard to track what the changes are but reading the author's updates it seems to be, potentially, a problem mod. Double-check you've the latest version of that.

Most of the others you've got are pretty well known mods or from known authors so I'd start with that one.

[Edit: My mistake, I got confused with "Alternate Beginnings"]

Hmm... Strange. The only mod I'm confused about is the SoulSickness mod and I can't see it in your LO.

_058_ LGNPC_SoulSicknessPatch_v1_00.esp

It seems you don't install it properly or you have it but forgot to install it?

My understanding from reading the info about SoulSicknessPatch was that it's an optional patch that you install if you don't want the Soul Sickness from Pax Redoran to be part of your game. I decided I would go with Pax Redoran as is and not install the patch.

(N.B. I've never played through LGNPC before and have no idea what happens in Pax Redoran or what Soul Sickness actually is, so... no spoilers please!)

From the readme of LGNPC_PaxRedoran mod

This plug-in depends on Morrowind only. Do not use merged dialogues.esp (from TESTool) with this plug-in (or any other LGNPC installment)! LGNPC Soul Sickness Patch has been cleaned with TESAME, and date-stamped with Wrye Mash. If you open this mod in the game editor, use Wyre Mash to preserve the date stamp: Date stamp: 6/30/2008/11:01:00 PM Changing this value could prevent it from working as intended. CONFLICTS: - Could result in conflicts with any other mod (other than Pax Redoran) that alters the official script: AshStatueTopic.

You can search for the AshStaueTopic script in http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=100 on every mod that you have in your LO. :)

Were you ever using my mod (BTB's Game Improvements)? The "Settings" plugin disables camping entirely.
