My Problem W/ Auto-Armor

Post » Mon Mar 25, 2013 8:19 am

Yeah, its another one of "these posts".

I've never really had a problem with auto-armor at its core, and especially when newer players use it. It's a good anti-sniper and anti-bow tool. But there is one thing that bugs me about this perk. It's the max ranked players who have rebooted at least once, but still use Auto Armor as a crutch. I honestly believe these players don't know how to play the game, since they've never once pressed the armor button themselves. I agree that in certain cases auto armor is useful, like if a lobby is full of bow and gauss users. But I just dislike when a player who is clearly experienced runs with auto armor on every class, regardless of the situation.

I know this has been said a thousand times before, but do you guys agree? Can you agree that auto armor can be a legitimate tactic, but only occasionally?

I think the general consensus among skilled players using AA is that they don't like getting OHK'd.

My observation is that OHK's are just going to be part of the game. If you're scared of getting killed randomly from time to time, then use AA. Or if you feel it happens to you far too often, use it. If you feel that the benefit of using a different perk outweighs the risk of OHK's, then don't use it.

Should have been a death steak bonus from the start, and I agree with you 100%, i was always fond of auto armor being a crutch for newcomers, but i was absolutely disappointed when i found it was a safety net for good players.

I can easily see that side of the argument. But to me, I don't think a lot of players have the mentality of fearing OHK's. I think its more the crutch that auto armor gives you when you're caught off guard. Again, really useful, but I just feel like the element of surprise is part of the game. I'm already used to being OHK'd a lot, it doesn't bother me. I do, however, get shot in the back alot, which would make auto armor useful. I just rarely use it because I feel like I'm capable of activating armor before I die. I find it better to run perks that I find more reliable and useful.

I think AA should be locked only into the pre-set classes. It's a perk that gives advanced players a sense of security that I believe they shouldn't have if they want to use the more advanced unlocks.

What's a skilled player have to worry about in a game against randoms if they 1: can't get OHK'd 2: are vastly superior to their opponents 3: have unlocked and leveled up almost everything in the game?

When skilled people using AA start to argue that it should stay in the game in its current state, I start to wonder how they'd fare without it. Are they angry that the "no skilled noob" got the drop on him once and killed him? Or do they really think that a perk like AA is just fine with no imbalance when used by a top skill player?

I honestly don't care what they do, if anything, with AA. Just giving a suggestion or two that may appease everyone that does have an issue with it one way or another.

Personally im a level 2 rebooter, currently level 38 and i still use AA.. Why? Because its the only skill that boosts your survivability the most. Why use something that can would decrease my chance of surviving? I know how to click armor mode since i've played Crysis 2 MP since release and was actually quite good. But i do not wish to decrease my survivability. I hate getting 1hitted and its just an extra life for free.

I dont mind anyone using it at all.. I wouldnt mind if it got removed as well.. I will only stop using it if they throw a level limit on it, everybody stops using it, or removes it from the game entirely.

I know how to play. But why decrease my chance of surviving when its clearly the best module on the market?
