Problem in Morag Tong

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:46 pm

I'm at the point in the Morag Tong in which I need to advance to the rank of Master before I can continue any of the special duties. Problem is, the Guildmaster won't allow me to advance even though my skills are at the required level (one at 70, two at 25, speed and agility at 33) Anyone know what the deal is?

They need to be skills favored by the faction. Morag Tong's are: Acrobatics, Illusion, Marksman, Light Armor, Short Blade, Sneak.

If you ever need to know what particular skills to work on for such requisites, it is also possible to see ingame on your character menu. I think you hover the mouse over the name of the fraction on your list or maybe click it, anyway it is possible.

The skills I have at 70, 25, and 25 are skills that are favored by the Morag Tong.

Yeah, I've checked the wiki and double checked to make sure I haven't missed anything. When I request advancement I get the whole message that I've completed enough writs and duties, but skills are lacking.

Not sure about this, but it may be that one or more of your skill requirements are being met only because of an artificial skill boost (like with a constant-effect spell). I think the faction requirements are tied to your base, unmodified skills. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.)

You're correct. Magically-enhanced skills do not count for faction advancement as they did in Daggerfall.

My agility does have a boost to it due to a piece of armor, but without any artificial increases my agility still remains two points about the requested amount. Everything else doesn't have any sort of artificial boost.

There may be a guild-quest breaking glitch. For example, I've played thru the nevil and ranis lenith quest, went and killed them and had it stop me from advancing due to some glitch.

I think also this can happen if you have a price on your head, and instead of presenting a writ to a guard you instead pay the thieves guild to clear you name, then go to the morag tong to contiue. Sometimes it happens and I dunno why, and other times it does not. If you are on PC, there are ways to correct this. On Xbox, you may be stuck.

Perhaps in an effort to help figure this out, you can tell me what quest on the morag tong you are on/or just did?

I just finished the Ring of Sanguine Sublime Wisdom Quest and I should apparently now be on the Execute Durus Marius Quest, though it requires a Master rank which I cannot get apparently...

I didn't get reported to the guards for anything and didn't have a price on my head. I'm on PC, by the way.

You can console the dialogue to "force" it.

But if you don't want to do that, I understand. I prefer not to use cheats/expliots/ and console.

On to the trying-to-figure-this-out-part. Did you give eno hlaalu the ring of sublime wisdom?

Yes, I gave him the ring, completing the quest and all. I'm debating on resorting to using console commands since I have not found any way to get around this.
