Problem Navmeshing worldspace

Post » Sat Jan 29, 2011 5:04 pm

Well, I got through the bug fest of worldspace creation by luck. Now when im navmeshing the path, I seem to stop at a certain point. Instead of continuing my triangles I have to start a new sequence leaving gaps. Now when enemies are chasing or patroling, that seem to screw up and run away instead of just crosing over. any ideas what Im doing wrong?

Sounds like your path goes from one cell to another cell. When loading or saving your mod you should get a warning of not finalizing your navmeshes. This wiki entry might help you:

There is also a tool for autogeneration of navmeshes, but I prefer to do these manually :-)

Yup, your navmeshes are separated by the cell boundaries of your worldspace. If you line up the edges of each cell of navmesh, there is a button on the toolbar called 'finalize cell navmeshes' and if you click that, it finilizes the navmesh in your worldspace, connecting each cells navmesh together, and drawing green lines along the borders to show you where two navmeshes connect. I really DO NOT reccomend EVER using autogen with navmesh, especially outdoors. I tired it once for an interior metro station cell I made. It took 15 minutes (as long as I could have done the whole cell practically) and made navmesh on the roof and all sorts of weirdness. It took me like an hour to fix, wasting alot of time. So do it yourslef, you will get very fast at it. And finalize your cells. Just make sure to line up each border as best you can so it all matches up nicely.

Thanks! you all are a big help! btw I used the auto gen before. It can get out of control but if you use the advanced autogen you can set sime perameters. why i autogen, its maps some extra areas but i just delete those points and patch up the main area. sometimes its quicker if im doning large areas.
