Problem using BOSS with Internet Explorer

Post » Wed Sep 02, 2015 5:39 pm

Recently re-installed Windows 7. Have installed Oblivion/SI/Wrye Bash/UOp and OBSE. After installing UOP I tried to run BOSS (within Wrye Bash) and Internet Explorer appears to be preventing it. Something to do with JavaScript, yet I was using BOSS for the new load order just the other day. Can anyone cast any light on this? Previous to re-install I used Firefox and it did not seem to have a problem with BOSS..

I think that BOSS run and run well. It's only the result showing that is delegated to the default brawser. I'm not aware of IE specifics bugs for BOSS, but it may be.

Simply do a favor to yourself: reinstall Firefox(or waterfox if you have 64bit OS) or Opera

I had a look into Internet Explorer and found that Java IS enabled, without prompts as well. So why IE keeps prompting me I don't know. Yes, I think I will return to Firefox, the sooner the better! I had thought that IE was more useable now :shakehead:

Java != Javascript

Javascript is what BOSS LOG needs

Using the BOSS GUI or editing the BOSS ini it's possible to cponfigure BOOS to make a txt only log

BOSS just shells out the report in HTML or text format. It still functions. You can configure BOSS in the GUI not to issue a log on completion, or select the option to show it in your text viewer of choice. One can always choose another program as an HTML vewer anyway.
I run my BOSS in IE11, no problems but unfortunately must needs to run Wrye Bash as administrator as there is something http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1525110-wrye-bash-thread-104/#entry24127112 with WB and UAC here.

Try running WB as admin (losing the Installers drag & drop) and check the advanced settings of IE (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie11-iewindows8_1/frequent-message-internet-explorer-restricted-this/ae82d989-c143-404b-bba4-22e91c880b32?auth=1 but I have it off because it offers a prompt) as well as the security settings. Running IE in protected mode (and 64 bit protection) might also help.

Edit: Meh the text view not working so well. Facelift required. :tongue:
