Problem with controls on PS3

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 2:22 pm

Why isn't the right anolog stick work as it's supposed to? I mean, there's only two speeds of movement when you look around with your character, extremely slow and too fast. Normally when i look around in games, the anolog controls are seamless: if i push the right stick just a little, the movement is slow, and the harder i press the faster it progressively moves. But in this game, there's only two speeds! If i push the stick slow, it moves slow, and if i push it a bit farther, it still moves slow. Then suddenly when i have moved the stick about halfway through the end, the view starts moving really fast, and that sudden new speed stays the same till the end. This makes turning every corner a living nightmare, and marksman class nearly unplayable. I can't believe that they f****d up the controls so bad. If you have the PS3 version, have you noticed the same problem?

Also, i would like to know if 360 version has the same problem... or is it once again the superior version.

Isn't there a way you can adjust that? I'm able to get variable movement in my games. Try going into the Options area for controls. I'm almost certain there's an adjustment slider for looking around.

I tried to adjust the horizontal and vertical sensitivity, but it doesn't work. It still seems that there's only two speeds. I can adjust those speeds faster or slower, but it doesn't change the problem, which is that the anolog stick works only one notch better than a D-pad.

Would you have any tips how to set the adjustments?

So there's no variable adjustment for that mushroom? Hmmm...I'll have to fire up Oblivion later and see what I can find. It's been awhile, though, since I"ve messed around with options. I usually just set it all up at the beginning of the game and walk away.

Tell you the truth, I never adjusted horizontal and vertical, it seems fine for me at default. I switch the "look around" option to reversed, that's about it. Anyways, I'll get back to you...

360 here. If I gently press up, my character moves slow. If I slide it up a little more, my character assumes easy walking pace, really great for towns. If I push it up a little more, I start doing this jog thang, and if I jam it straight up I start running. I've never checked if I can adjust this, I will fire up Oblivion tonight to see if I can....

You move with left stick, but i'm talking about the right anolog stick, which controls your looking around. Does that act normally?

Oops, my bad. Yes. I can look around slowly. When looking around corners, I tend to look while doing this sneak sideways move, just to peek my head around and assess the situation. There are times however, and this usually happens when in combat with two or more melee enemies, I will turn to look at the second guy, and my view wants to go past him. I've been playing so long that I auto-correct, by gently pushing the stick back against the violent view swing to whichever side. This doesn't happen often, just in this type of situation.
However, I have no problems aiming, with either a bow, or firing off a spell, and can still lead enemies. My view speed doesn't stay the same, as it sounds like it does for you, when you reach a high speed.

Hmm. How's your map working? This maybe a better way to test it. If i move the cursor in my map with the right stick, there's clearly only two speeds in which it can move, very slow and faster.

My map moves slowly, very slowly. If I press LB or RB while scrolling the map, it centers my pointer, and I can scroll through a lot faster.

I'm actually starting to get used to these controls. They may not be the best possible, but i guess i can't expect a pitch perfect experience from every game.

You can adjust the sensitivity of the anolog sticks, but for both sticks there are generally two speeds: very, very slow; as fast as possible within the set parameters. I don't like to play my Xbox 360 version very much. I've been spoiled by the wonders of mods and customized controls.

Bah, i've had it with this game. Aside from the problem i posted, the game has some serious frame rate jittering. And bugs. I'll just go and trade it to some game with actual quality- like MGS 4.

By the way, is it true what some people say? That the PS3 Goty- edition has worse frame rate than the original version.

What bugs are you experiencing? Perhaps we can help with that. I can't help about the framerate I'n afraid, I have it on 360 and never had any problems.
I do know of a particular bug on ps3 that only comes with the GOTY edition however. I'm curious if this is what has happened to you.

Yes I know it’s a pain in the *** with a PS3 controller especially trying to shoot at a target with a Bow and Arrow at half to max range. Since if you try to aim at the target your all over the place in tell the Target stops moving then you can move onto the target slowly. Always ticks me off if the target moves right as I'm firing since 9 out of 10 times that’s a miss then....

If you ever walked past my place late at night you might hear me yelling to far, dam it, *****ing ****, and Quit moving you peace of ****.

Sorry I'm gettng back to you so late. Yes, I am noticing the 2 speed thing you mentioned. Guess I never really noticed it before. It doesn't really bother me.

and actually now that I'm noticing this, I'm also realizing that I tend to flick the right mushroom real fast to look around, instead of holding it at one steady speed. :spottedowl: If I flick that mushroom just right, I can get just the right amount of speed as I look around.

Not much help, but I tried.

I haven't experiences major bugs with it, just small things like floating horses :D. The bugs are really not a big problem, but the frame rate is.

I guess there's nothing that can be done about it then. Thanks for answering anyway :)
