Problem with FO3Edit

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 5:29 pm

Hi.
Maybe it's just me who's a newbie when it comes to Fallout 3 mods, but when I load up the FO3Edit to make a merged patch (I want to make a merged patch for the Weapon Mod Kit mods) and rightclick in the left panel like I should, nothing happens.

Could someone explain why this is?

I'm using the newest version of FO3Edit, downloaded from Fallout 3 Nexus by the way.

You may have to wait for the loader to finish? (check the messages tab for the line [mm:ss] Background Loader: finished)

I wonder if Fo3Edit is actually loading-up (stuck in loading sequence), or if your just not clicking in the right place, or something else... The link to the manual for Fo3Edit can be found in my sig, I would check that out for the exact process on creating a merged patch.

Are you seeing any errors are warnings at all?

I see no warnings whatsoever. The only strange thing is that it might not be loading all the mods I chose. It loads the official ones but not actually mods like WMK - I didn't think much about it at the time, but maybe it's connected in some way.

I'll check out that manual as well. Maybe that'll explain something

After loading (trying to load) everything, click on the right panel's "Messages" tab and scroll to the bottom. You'll probably see something like...
[00:10] Background Loader: Fatal:
...which means ModX needs to be loaded before ModY or that ModX is just nowhere to be found.

If you still have trouble, copypasta the entirety of the messages tab output wrapped in a spoiler tag and we'll get to the bottom of it. :)

It might have been something like that. It works now. I think it had something to do with the load order, like you mentioned. I also tried unchecking any other mods that weren't WMK.
But, it works! I'm a happy person again.

Thanks the the help guys.
