Please help me!

I love Ebony Blade (especially the Nightingale Blade) and want to smith it to make it better, the problem is the game wont let me. I play on ps3 and lvl 47.
So far, I played 196 hours of Skyrim. I just got Nightingale Blade now. My skill of smithing is above 100 and I have got the Arcane Blacksmith perk and many
of ebony ingots. I can smith everything else but not the Ebony Blade, Nightingale Blade. It just doesnt appear on the menu. And also the same problem with my Ysgramor Shield...I read some forums that others are struggling with this probIem.
Im very sad because it has long been looking forward to resolve this.

I thought it was Void Salts that were used to upgrade?

Anyway, I had an issue with this before too. I found that if I went into one of my houses that had a weapon rack, and let the weapon rack strip the Nightingale Blade from my inventory, when I picked it back up I could upgrade it.

Yes, you are right! My Nightingale armor set managed to upgrade with Void Salts.

The ebony blade can not be upgrade, don't know if it's a glitch or not.


The nightingale blade is glitch, this is a leveled item and the last version of this item is screwed (the best one of course, when you got the sword at lvl 46+) and can not be upgrade.

The armor is voidsalts, the blade and bow however are ebony. I didn't know about the leveled item issue, good to know for future play throughs.

Have you got daedric smithing perk.? I've got maxed out smithing tree, and I can upgrade Nightingale Blade and Dawnbreaker. Ebony Blade (TH Daedric sword) is not upgradeable. Neither is the Wuulthrad nor Shield of Ysgramor.

It is still impossible to upgrade... Is this a glitch?! Damn it! Thank you for the info!

Same here, I have got maxed out smithing tree....at lvl 47 i got my blade Nightingale and this is the problem...
I soon had to start the missions of Thives Guild. So I recommend to everyone that even before lvl 46 do it.
And also the same problem with Ysgramor Shield and Shield of Soltitude....

If you listen to the Daedra, the Ebony Blade is upgraded by using it, not by the Smithing Skill.

Go kill some of your best friends, and the Ebony Blade will get better. So says Mephala. Now go, and obey.

Confirming Nightingale Blade received after level 50 does not upgrade on PC either.
