Problem with object "handles"...

Not technically a CS problem, but this seemed the best place to ask. I've been playing around with 3ds Max and have created a new mesh, complete with a new set of textures to go with it. I've used this new mesh on a container (a hidden wall safe for what it's worth). Now, it all works and I can activate the safe, but here's the problem; I can only activate it from a specific distance, around 2-4 steps away. Any farther or any closer to it and the hand icon disappears and I can't activate it. How can I make it so that the safe can be activated at a closer distance?

Wall safe?
Well, then the question is - are you trying to put your mesh on the wall of any vanilla interior houses or not? Because it may be not a problem with your mesh - but most of walls in original houses have quite inaccurate collisions that are closer to center of the room than visible wall itself. So if you put your mesh on such a wall then it may just be obscured by such collision.
To view collision in CS press F4, or in game - type TCG in console and see whether your mesh is behind any collision that blocks it.

Thanks a million, that was exactly the problem. Took a little bit of tweaking in 3DSMax, but it's all working now. :)
