Problem with onboard graphic card

Post » Tue Sep 29, 2009 11:12 am

I'm new to this forum...I'm having trouble with my onboard graphic card Intel 82945g. Sometimes doors and windows flashes, so as npc's hairs and clothes. This pic shows it

I've updated the card already, and the problem remains... What can i do?

Are you sure this isn't a mod conflict?

I did some research on it and found a few articles from 2007.

Heres a few things you can try:

-Try adjusting the render distance in Graphics options
-Try turning OFF real time shadows.

Look into patching the game.

The official patches would be a good place to start. If you already have them, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes3Mod:UMP

It fixes a lot of texture errors.

Are you still able to interact with the door even though the texture disappears?

Well, i've installed this one and morrowind code patch. Already installed some of bethesda's. Thanks for these hints but it still happening..

They dont disappear completely, they usually flash as i look around or walk. And i'm able to interact with it even if its just flashing or not visible at all. Also it only happens outdoors

Take a look at some of the suggestions http://forumplanet.gamespy.com/morrowind_technical_problems/b49680/19737225/r19738600/

I'm also running on an intel based gpu on this here netbook and i've never had any flickering issues. Apparently (thanks to a lot of googling and research) it seems to be common amongst intel gpu based users.

This doesn't sound good, though.
The problem is, that the z-buffer of the graphics card is not accurate enough. So it renders, say, NPCs hair sometimes correctly and sometimes behind the forehead. If the latest drivers don't fix it - hmmm. But then, you won't be happy with a 82945g running Morrowind, anyway...

I vaguely recall my old Intel GMA 950 laptop doing this a few years ago. Have you tried the FPS optimizer? It's kinda old-school (compared to more recent mod/patch/code developments), but I used it with satisfactory results for a couple years... maybe 2007-08ish?... I don't recall what settings to try though....

Well, thank you all for the answers and patience. I googled about it and now i think that it is in fact a z-buffer problem and that's not much i can do about... Don't you guys have any other ideas? I updated intel's drivers, patched the game, changed some settings of z-buffer through GMA driver and MGE (the flickering got worse, and then back to the initial problem when i setted everything back to the defaults), also tried using fps optimizer without sucess (don't know how to use it, i think).

Yes, this is indeed the z-buffer problem.
There is nothing you can do about it except get new Hardware.
