Problem with PowerArmor underwear

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 6:46 pm

In the original Fallouts it was clear that there was a suit that was worn under regular power armor. (http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff292/VonGrantoven/BOSunderarmor.jpg)
I am guessing this was intended to be similar to the thermal control layers worn under space and deepsea diving suits.

Anyways I tried to simulate this using the recon armor helmet. I didn't want to have to carry and equip it as a separate item but instead want it to appear automatically when the PA Helm is removed, so I added it as an Armor Addon. I added this to the form list linked to hair/headband/hat as with the recon helm.
Unfortunately, when it shows up in the game it clips the top of the head and hair as shown: http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff292/VonGrantoven/underarmor.jpg

I tried moving the NiTriShape up in Nifskope, moving the Head NiNode, and even duplicating it and scaling it up, but it seems that changes to the nif do not show up in the game! http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff292/VonGrantoven/Underarmorhelm.jpg

How can I adjust this to get rid of the clipping?

Any help most appreciated

What do you have against a force equip?

Thanks for the response, harmy. Do you mean use the 'equipItem' function to get other actors to put on recon helmets when they dont wear PA helms?
If so, I dont really want to have to do that.

In any case, I am very curious as to why changes to the model in nifscope, don't show up in the game when a nif is used as an armor addon.
If I can figure that out then the issue is solved.

After some more experimenting it seems the clipping happens will all armors when the recon helmet .nif is used as an Armor Addon. However, the exact same model used as a separate item (recon helmet) does not have the clipping. http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff292/VonGrantoven/reconcowl.jpg
This is getting a bit frustrating.
