Problem with sound

I have a slight problem with audio after installing Oblivion on my new computer. It all works perfectly fine, except when I strafe either way while moving forwards/backwards the sound of my steps isn′t in the middle but either rear left/right. What′s strange is that it′s reversed, so for example when I strafe left while moving forwards/backwards the steps are in the rear right speaker. Not that big of an issue but clearly something is wrong, it was not like this before and I′ve tried different settings too.
Another annoying thing is the sound of torches or fire in general. Sometimes, not every time, when I′ve spoken to someone or visited my journal that particular sound simply disappear. I can get it back by adjusting the effect slider either way.

None of these problems are critical, but kind of annoying. I have a suspicion that it might have to do with the fact that I now have a 64-bit system instead of 32 and therefore not everything works as it should. Does anyone know if that′s the case? I′m on windows 7. I use a 5.1 Sound Blaster card I think, same as before when everything was fine.

I don′t know if anyone understand my problem or know the solution, but any help is appreciated :)

My system has a tendency to throw away some sounds as well. Repeatedly casting a spell will, more often than not, cause the casting sound to simply not play. After I cast a different spell, the sound comes back. I think Oblivion just handles sound in a rather funky way, and some little "quirks" are to be expected.......

Ok, but I never had this problem on my other computer. That′s why it bugs me so much that I make a post about it :sadvaultboy:
