V.A.T.S. problems

Has anyone else had serious problems with vats?
For example:

Using Lucky:
.357 JFP, Cowboy, Luck 10, Finesse, Built to Destroy, and Boon's Hat (57% crit rate normally, 95% w/vats)

Here's the issue:
95% chance to strike, 95% chance to critically strike.
3 shots selected-
shot 1: completely misses
shot 2: hits but no critical
shot 3: hits but no critical

BTW I am outside of melee range so the "I am sticking my gun barrel in your mouth but my bullets are magically appearing behind your head" glitch does not apply here.

Outside of vats when I aim at a target, I hit the target.
And about 1/2 the time (57%) I hit critically.

What is going on here? Is VATS just that messed up in NV?
Not to mention they already nerfed it from FO3.

If this is a single example, maybe just bad luck? It's 95%, not 100%.

lucky is a lousy pistol in my opinion, try maria, thats a good weapon, it has a high rate of fire and lots of criticals, it works fine in VATS.

I wanted to like Maria sooo much; beautiful gun,
but it doesn't hit hard enough to bypass even mediocre amounts of DT.

But sadly my experience in VATS with lucky is not a single isolated event.
I have the same issues with lots of different guns.

Not to mention when you have a 95% chance to hit in vats with a plasma rifle & miss - terrible.

I think I am done with the 100% crit VATS gunslinger.
I do better manually aiming.

BTW, if not getting a critical strike @95% chance - 3 times in a row- is bad luck?
I would have a better odds wining the lotto.

VATS is very buggy with revolvers and lever-action weapons. Compared to the box magazine feed weapons they have a extremely high malfunction rate in VATS. Lost count the number of times I've fired 3+ rounds in VATS with a 95% hit chance and they all missed high, with some rounds going nearly strait up. Even better, the first round misses/hits/whatever and the camera stays locked on the target. The follow up attacks happen much quicker than normal taking ammo, but no hits.

Maybe it'll get fixed with a patch, but that'll make the affected guns too good. I would rather not have my Trail Carbine nerfed because a bug related to a feature I rarely use got fixed.
