Problems With MGEGui & Mods

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 2:26 pm

Hello.
Finally after a week of hard labor I've managed to install 200+ mods and got Morrowind working. Now I've started to play around with MGEgui and so far it's been frustrating. I'm having bunch of problems. It worked perfectly before tho.

Should distant land look like that? I remember it being different, better. I have everything to the fullest, I think I have set 20cells distance. I know (or at least I think) it's not supposed to be unlimited view, but I don't remember it being ugly white like that. Maybe a better "blurry foggy shade" or something. But not like that.

Then I'm getting this half blurry half sharp glitches. And some other crap.

Plates and metal stuff (but not armor) are shining so much my eyes really start to hurt.

Plus I'm having double animation on all animated things, like pigs, chickens, etc. and everything animated.

Not to mention most of the NPCs refer to me as their "savior" and something else, as if I had saved Morrowind already or something.

I know this problems aren't all from MGEgui (probably), but I still need help with them.
Thank you very much!

P.S.
Mindblowing:

Now after some tweaking around I've got it to work. I still have double animations tho.
Plus, the water doesn't look like it did on those pictures, it's exactly like in Morrowind? Who's fault is that? MGEgui's or some other mod's?

Thx

Which part did you get to work? Since there are several problems described in the first post.

Can you post your mod list and the version of MGE you are using? It will help us figure out what the problems are.

Ok, I've got "distant land creation" working.

There are only two problems now.
Firstly, there are double animations of everything and I don't know why. I'm using the animation mod and I don't see a problem. Could MGEgui be interacting with it in some bad way?

Secondly the water is morrowind like (ugly). It looks exactly like Morrowind's water. Is MGEgui suppose to alter it or are there other mods for that? If you look at the screenshots I posted you can see how beautiful water is. But now that I redid statics it's the same as vanilla Morrowind's.

Thanks

I think I read about effects bleeding on UI. A Morrowind code patch feature, something to do with "improving UI". I think it is noted that it would cause weirdness with MGE. (Only works with MGE XE)

The duplicated NPCs happened to me once. I can't remember exactly what triggers it. You can remove-load-save-reinstall that mod to work properly. I had all Tamriel Rebuilt duplicated several times once. After updating the mod without removing it first, I think.

For water not working, you must have seen an error at left-top corner when you load your save. That will tell us why. It must also disable distant land completely. Make sure your ingame.fx matches the MGE version. (that water requires phal's custom d3d8.dll and a custom ingame.fx probably.)

Fog is white because of bloom and Morrowind.ini fog values. Vurt has mods with recommended color tweaks. You can tweak them(day fog color). Or you can tweak bloom shaders for less bloom effects.

I don't know about the savior thing.

Metals shine, I see nothing wrong with it. :D It is probably the way it is via the mod that adds it.

I recommend Wrye Mash and MLOX. Mash can clean and fix your savefiles and MLOX can show you the incompatibilities and updates as well as fixing your load order.

If I turn off the Animated Morrowind mod the animations disappear. I don't have anything else that would animate Morrowind, at least not anything I know of.

I get no error when starting a game. I'm starting a New game btw. And could you pretty please explain me a bit more about what to do to fix it? As I'm really bad at this stuff.

What's the name of Vurt's mod? So I don't have to search ;P

I don't know how to use Wyre Mash expect for "fixing" saves which I don't even have. While Mlox does say I have certain troubles which I don't know how to fix, or if I do nothing changes (my English is crappy and I understand this stuff poorly).

Thank you very much.

There's MGE thread for a reason, so you should post your MGE related problems in MGE thread.

You sure it's Morrowind's default water, water in your pics looks quite alright... or is it not like in the pics anymore?

Code Patch offers sharpening of the UI but says that MGE blurs and blooms override it and thus it doesn't work. Another thing is that you might be having transparency in Morrowind's normal options on, which migth cause transparent inventories and dialog boxes, but I don't think it should make the borders of those boxes transparent too. Try fiddling with that anyway.

Metal surfaces are shiny like that cause shiny stuff and everything that is light in colour is amplified in shiny-ness with most bloom shaders on, so either find a weaker bloom shader or reduce the values if you know how to or something. Tbh your pics of the silverware on the table look awesome to me :P

The savior thing is most probably related to a dialogue/quest related mod so check which ones you have on, maybe even post your mod list here, I'm sure people will find a whole bunch of stuff you could improve and/or fix. :)

Unrelated with graphics problems (better see MGE threads, there may be answers for similar problems there), anyway abotGondoliersRV.esp should replace abotGondoliers.esp if and only if you are using Piratelord's Resigned Vivec, with your current mod list you should remove abotGondoliersRV.esp.
Not sure, but I would check also if Vurt's Grazelands Trees Bushy.esp and Vurt's Grazelands Trees.esp are meant to be mutually exclusive

Here is Vurt's weather mod.
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8085

You can tweak bloom settings for less bloom too.

If distant land fails, it is probably a d3d8.dll and shader file problem. Install the base svn version then the custom package you are using. There can be a "Shader Compiler Errors - InGame.fx.txt" file inside Morrowind folder. Posting that can help.

I see no such file anywhere. And I'm suppose to do what? svn version, what? More simple instructions for an idiot like me please ...

I've actually fix all the problems now but the water. It's just the same.
MGEgui is the one that's suppose to change it right, or are there other mods? I remember it having exactly like on the screenshots I've posted, now it's just plain old Morrowind and I have no idea why :(

MGE has many sub versions. If you are not using the correct version, oddities might occur.

http://www.somethingfornobody.com/2011/morrowind-modding-guide/

Skip to step 7. You follow those and you should get it working.

Are you using Morrowind Overhaul? It is very user friendly, you may consider it.

I'll try. And yes I am using Morrowind Overhaul. The problem is it's only for graphics and not gameplay. The maker of the overhaul pack still didn't release the overhaul for game experience. So I had to get all the mods by hand and install them by hand.

EDIT: Yes, I'm using the original non sub version. Same problem. I've uninstalled MGEgui completely, tried with non-sub version and then we sub and the same shlt happens :(

I'm still having water problems, but I don't care about it anymore that much.

I have bigger issues now. Game just randomly goes "not responding" and closes every now and then. It happens randomly. Sometimes when I just stand still, sometimes when I talk, read a book, fight, sleep, load, do anything really.
I know this kind of things are almost impossible to solve, but I'm wondering if there is maybe a program that tells you what went wrong, or some "morrowind error log" or osomething?

Or of the list mods I showed you, which one could cause this problem? MGEgui has anything to do with it? Which mod if any?

This is my Mlox error list:

To fix Pursuit, I need MWE or MWSE. They both need to be ran as a stand alone application along with Morrowind right? Which one should I use? I've installed Graphics Overhaul, did that already did something maybe? OR does MGEgui do something?
How to fix evil gmsts? Or the Ambient light thingy?

Thanks

To fix Pursuit, I need MWE or MWSE. They both need to be ran as a stand alone application along with Morrowind right? Which one should I use? I've installed Graphics Overhaul, did that already did something maybe? OR does MGEgui do something?
How to fix evil gmsts? Or the Ambient light thingy?

Thanks
That mlox report is very clear. It says, MWSE or MGE. You have MGE(MGE includes MWSE!). MLOX provides a link about evil GMSTs. Follow it and read it. I use TES Advanced Mod Editor to remove evil GMSTs.

You can mostly ignore ambient light warning. It is not clear which plugins touch interior cells(I use TESAME to check that too), I trust MLOX' order mostly. Your other problems might be special to MGSO, I would ask these questions on official MGSO thread. Also MGE and mods are at different planes of existence. You should ask about your MGE problems on official MGE thread. People there would help you more than I could here.

Make sure you successfully created distant land files. Make sure you have enabled distant land. Make sure you have the correct version of MGE and custom packages. You got it to working once, don't give up.
