Problems with the Construction Set

Post » Wed Jul 27, 2011 11:31 pm

Ok, I just need to know if these Issues I have been having with the construction set is normal.
The main is that it takes forever to close, going through that "Not Responding" Time, sometimes up to 15 or more minutes. Task Manager doesn't help either, as it does nothing.
The other issue is sometimes, the X at the top of the screen doesn't work. It just doesn't do anything to the construction set. You can still edit the file and interact with the construction set, it doesn't go into not responding.
So, are these normal, and is there a fix to these?
(I'm running the CS through OBSE with OBME plugin)

With your task manager, end the process rather than the program and it'll close instantly (save your work first, of course). Usually, it closes within ten seconds for me, so 15 minutes is unusual. You could try setting its Large Address Aware flag to on if you have >3GB RAM and/or set its *priority higher.

Since you're using OBSE, I recommend you grab the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1198521-rel-construction-set-extender/. It fixes a lot of bugs in the CS, including the slow exit times. I don't recommend stopping the process because it won't save your settings and may not save your mod either. Now you do need to get the CS configured the way you want before using the CSE. There is a bug in the current version that it won't save any configuration changes you make because of the fast exit it uses. So if you want to change a setting, like the snap to grid size, for example, you need to load the regular CS (without CSE) and change the setting and let it exit normally - even if it does take forever. Or if you know the parameter in the ini file, you can just change it there.
