I don't agree.

I think it was under the interface section, called combat cues. Set it to always on.

Honestly I needed it because I was having trouble with the red lines in the ground (of all colors, why red?), and my reaction times aren't fast enough to see what kind of head nod the enemy was doing and also manage to hit the right keys.

Yes it does.

More than once have i been notified "press to block" outside the tutorial and I recall an interface option for tur.ing it on and off.

Not everyone will.

As a realm first raider on the other hand, more info > better. Lets me kill it faster than you and lets me otimize my character to the theoretical bedt it can be st what i want it to do.

Aka min/max.

I really don't want pve add-ons to become as core here as it has been elsewhere. I always sighed when somebody bragged about a difficult raid kill while talking about downloading a mod that told them what the boss was doing, When the boss was going to use a skill, highlight the minimap where to stand, When to remove a debuff, when to apply a debuff, When to interrupt, when there was a phase change, show who the boss targeted for attacks that were intended to be random, etc etc etc. These same people would then say they didn't need the mod, they just wanted the 'scrubs' in their group to use it because they were 'baddies'.

I really don't mind them. They're an excellent learning tool. I eventually turned them off because I like as empty HUD as possible, but I think they can stay as an option.

I've never gone into my options to turn that off and it gets automatically disabled after the tutorial/starting areas.

I didn't realize there was an option to turn it back on, but they should remove that or risk trivializing the most interesting part of their PvE content.

You really dont need them in wow at least.

Those mods were so popular that most of their functionality was moved into the default UI.

None pinged the minimap. That was me as raid lead doing it manually. I still had the occasional horrible player and those mods wont save you if youre bad to begin with.

Id like to be able to accentuate the cues then.

Im legally blind. Your interesting part of combat is my pain in the rear to see.

Most all of the mods I use in game give me existing information in a simple and central location so I can see it(bars for timers on debuffs color coded debuffs on allies, simple marks when a given Druid heal over time is on the target etc).

I use grid with mouseover macros for healing. I use dbm because I can move the alerts and it makes sounds. The sounds only make it so that my raid leader(I dont raid lead anymore) doesnt have to announce things. Before boss mods or text alerts in default UI we had ventrilo and before that we had macros.

OMFG, that brings back nightmares. I was the cleric officer in my EQ raiding guild. I not only had to be a part of a CH rotation, I had to set it up, explain it to noobs, and take the blame when it got screwed up. I'm SO glad that kind of tactic isn't necessary in MMOs anymore.

Yes by all means strip something else from the default UI. Then, when a mod adds it back in you can complain again.

When is enough, enough? What happened to options? I guess its more accurate to say, "Options are good as long as they are the options I'm ok with letting others have".

All I'm saying is this is a very slippery slope ZOS and those driving ZOS's decision is going down so be careful what you wish for.

Yes?

You would prefer the other slippery slope, of "it's all optional, but you'll never find a group and never have a chance at PvP If you don't take all of them"?

I think any changes that ZOS is considering to the api is not because of players crying "UNFAIR" but because addons are impacting the performance of the game. The basic displays provided by addons like player/enemy damage, healing, health. buffs/debuffs are fine.

Going beyond the basics, addons are fine as long as they:

1) don't display any cues that wouldn't ordinarily be visible with all options turned on

2) don't allow automation of actions which require direct input like keypresses

3) don't impact game performance at the server and client

4) don't reveal player information that could be used to hack or DDOS accounts

And kill off the guild invite spam addons before they become a plague.

I'm just going to quote Paul Sage to you:

We welcome creativity and have built ESO on player-choice, but as a game played with thousands of others, we also must be mindful of any mods that give clear mechanical advantages in competitive situations. Maintaining a level playing field will always be our first priority. Our intent with add-ons is to encourage you to modify your UI in a way that is more fitting for your personal play-style, but not ones that could allow you to make choices for others. We do not want those who aren’t interested in using an add-on to feel compelled to do so because they cannot remain competitive without them.

Options aren't options if you're gimping yourself.

Nothing is making choices for others.

By that logic we could exclude others based on things like armor and race and some folkd would complain until were all copies of each other.

And the size thing is incredibly annoying. Wyb that tag removed.
