Prof. Goodfeels - oops I scrapped the terminal - SPOILER

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 12:41 am

The Robot at Sunshine Tidings Co-op was one of those "I'll go back to later" things.

Now he's gone so I googled and discovered there is a terminal to control him. I think I've scrapped it as no terminal in the main building where the workbench is :(

I'm like 200 hours further on now so no way I can reload an old save.

I tried building a terminal there myself - but no options came up.

Is there anyway to recreate the situation where I can program the Prof.? Or am I screwed?

Yeah, I was kinda sad when I saw him lying on the gorund without knowing what actually happened. I didn't touch him when clearing the spot and somehow he dropped dead.

What's the deal with him anyway?

He was dead when I got there, so I don't even know what he was supposed to do.

I don't know how to preserve him either. But when I arrived he floated around, constantly uttering something that ended with groovy. I didn't touch him, but when my settlers finally arrived, he lay dead.

From the wiki. Obviously he's not the only Dalek reference.

I'm on my second play through, and in both play throughs he's just disappeared. I didn't scrap the terminal or issue any commands to him through the terminal (or even in build mode) either time, so I don't know what the deal with him is. I wish I could get him to stay. I like him.

the terminal has 4 entries:

"shutdown": shuts him down

"guard protocols": lets him do a guard patrol around the estate, if you're close enough to him, he'll follow you for a bit.

"just be": far out :-)

"send back to hesters for maintainance": makes him wander off, checked at hester's, he never arrives there:

independently on which protocol you choose, after you leave the location, he'll be disabled and returned to his original location near the terminal.

prid d5221 (his ref id)

getdisabled

to check for yourself at console.

by typing "enable" after picking his ref, you can re-enable him anytime, he'll be right back at the farm and right back to disabled once you leave.

goodfeels is a premium modding target of mine, definitely gonna do stg where he actually _goes_ to hester's and you'll have to get him back and then can keep him or stg along that lines, hope to see y'all on my subscriber list then :-)

I think all he was supposed to do is give you a location on the map when you send him back?

I've stopped wondering why some NPCs are named since I never know if they are connected to a quest or not, for instance I just killed a couple of named guard dogs (in armour) on an overpass. No peaceful option and no apparent reason I can see for them being named.

So, basically, by scrapping the damned terminal, I'm screwed?

Interesting. I don't find them funny at all. Just mildly entertaining.

yeah, he'll disable again every time you leave though. but better that than no groovy at all :-)

(btw he says "exterminaaade" (no really, he definitely does not say "...aTe" :-) in just the same tone, i think he'd not need any "just be" protocols at all, he's like that anyway :-)

I've done the guard duty and the far out option and he seems to just vanish no matter what, after I leave.

I never knew what was going on with this character, I can't even remember the option I chose on the terminal, he was one of the first things I bumped into on my playthrough. All I know is, I'd be travelling around the wastes and I'd keep bumping into him just wandering around on his own. I thought it was a weird co-incidence or mistake at first but, it happened quite a lot so I came to like the fella. I mean he'd even end up in places like Diamond City market and I didn't think that would happen at all.

Then one day I found his dead body on the floor somewhere in out in the wastes and was a bit sad. I didn't even loot him...

Wonder that happened to the free the robot group? killed by some animals perhaps, people would destroy or reprogrammed the robot.

Mine disappeared, he was at sunshine tidings when I got there roaming around, I cleared the area and left him be. When I found out more about him later I came back to discover he was gone, I checked hesters and there was no sign of him there, went back and tried the terminal which told me there was no such unit in the area.

I'm at a loss as to where he could be.

EDIT: I just did a little more research and discovered that he is bugged evidently. If you fast travel from the area he can "despawn" meaning he is still there but in a disabled state. So if you didn't send him anywhere, and you don't see his dead body laying on the ground then this is most likely what happened, in which case the presence of the terminal or lack there of makes little difference. Some are hoping this will be fixed with a future patch, but in the grander scheme of things this is pretty low on the list of things that bethesda would need to fix with this game.
