No progression content?

Post » Thu Mar 27, 2014 2:24 am

It's kind funny but old MMOs weren't like that.

It was impossible to just rush to the level cap.

And when you got there, lots of content was unlocked for you.

Now it's just "the 1-50 levels are the end game" so don't rush it. lol

I'm definitively not rushing it. But it's sad to see beautiful games like GW2 with such a lame "end game".

Well gw2 changed what it set out to do, compared to gw1, they caved and started gear grind.

To complain a game has no end gaming after saying there is none kinda silly.

In GW2 I just did all the quests and crafting, levelled 6 characters started on 7 and 8, got bored and gave up. Living story was boring.

I did actually reinstall it once played for about 2 hours then uninstalled it.

One advantage this game has got for me is that I'm a TES fan so more likely to be more patient with it.

You are clearly not a Raider. Raids have lockouts.

If Raids did not have lockouts then every guild could just kill and reset the first boss until everyone is geared before moving to the second, etc. - Then the whole content would be cleared in no-time.

You actually enjoy a game arbitratily locking you out of content so you can only do it once a week. I have always found that to be a B.S. way of handling the issue, and is a part of why I quit WoW. It made no sense to pay for a game in which they dictate when I can play, absurd actually. Why not just limit each account to 3 hours of playtime a week, that would surely make the endgame last longer too.

I agree that to keep players you need to keep putting out carrots for us to chase, but simply limiting how often I can chase the carrot is not a solution, it actually reduces my playtime, and I don't continue paying for games I am not playing much. WoW has brilliantly convinced players that slow content release is acceptable by limiting how often you can enjoy the content, and they have duped thousands of players into paying $15 a month to play once a week. That model may work but it is scandelous, and the fact players can't see that is kind of sad.

Idk about ESO because it isn't released yet. I hope this isn't the case.

But I saw most ppl saying the same things before GW2 release.

"The 1-80 journey is the end game", "There is alot you can do when you get to the cap, like exploring and jump puzzles...", "You can join the WvWvW or just do some structured PvP" and MANY other things.

GW2 is a very beautiful and leveling a character on it is 1000x more fun than WoW or many other MMOs.

But their idea of end game is laughable.

They added a new step up in armor stats, one with a grind it makes WoW looks the more casual friendly for getting best gear.

No, then the Adventure Zones and Trials will give you content, also you can visit the two other faction areas and do all those quests once you get to level 50. Not to mention PvP.

Look at it this way:

Level 1 - 50 (in your own faction) = 50 hours. <-- If you don't even read all the quests, lorebooks, etc.

Content in the two other factions = 50 hours each. (100 total)

VR1 to VR10 = 200-250 hours

So you'll have at minimum 350 hours of content to go through and that's not including Adventure Zones, Trials, and PVP in Cyrodil.

There is PLENTY of content to be had.

I will add though in GW2, those 6 characters maxed and all in exotic gear only took 1 month to achieve.

The levelling there was way too fast.

Doubt I could do that here though, or would want to.

Why does this concern you? Are you one of those people who want to rush to end game? or are you just Jelly that others will get there first? You are one of the two, and as I see fit...it really doesn't concern you or anyone....if people get to end game..thats end game..Just like when you reach the last objective in Resident Evil and save the day..Or you reach the end of Dead Rising..The End.. This is why games need to go back to Sandbox..Eso isn't really a sandbox as most say... The only Real Sandbox mmo is Eve.. Look at Eve, CCP didn't anticipate how their universe "Game" would turn out when it was Ran by players and the community. The only thing I see in ESO of sandbox is Cyrodiil, the way each alliance changes by taking over keeps and such..but not really 100% sandbox. But do I care if ESO isn't 100% Sandbox? No, I don't care.. Because I love the game. But be warned, these kickstarter 100% sandbox games will eventually emerge out from the deep and blow Every popular game known to mankind into Oblivion, not sure when, but its going to happen...but ill still be playing ESO :)

sure it is repeatable. in every game the raid content is repeatable... everythin else would be ridiculous... we know NOTHING about lockouts at the moment, so again: you are only assuming not knowing

If people really just want to play games that are just like WoW why don't they just play ... well ... WoW?

Every time a new game is released it is either a WoW clone and people complain about that, or it isn't just like WoW so it needs to change.

Likewise, if it wasnt based on TES games i wouldnt give it a second look . I wont want to rush to conclusions and say there is no progression but the fact that they say repeatable might make it so, we just dont know yet. Some people will actually prefer it that way i guess. I personally would prefer gear progression unless some other new innovative way is introduced to keep me coming back week after week, all the more so since its subscription based.

I played gw2 for a while , but all i did there was farm for legendaries and WvW, and once i got bored i stopped playing since nothing was keeping me there.

As someone who has raided competitively in the past, I don't want the devs focusing the game on raid content. That's a small portion of the playerbase and they are ultimately going to hit endgame faster than the majority anyway. Appeasing them hurts the game overall. TES was never about just endgame, if anything, I'd end up putting off the final fights to finish every little out of the way quest I could find. I want quests, storylines, things TES always has, instead of the devs attempting to accommodate a few players who will ultimately get bored anyway.

tbh mmos have a shelf-life, they ALL die sooner or later to a large degree. At some point you know they are going to become f2p, play for perks because that business model is the most successful with a smaller playerbase that the game will ultimately have.

I look forward to more pvp content, and minimal gear grinds. So excited to be in a game that is going to make crafting significantly more useful.

when you fail you can repeat is all they said - and thats the same in every game with raid content. there is NO word that you ca repeat it immediately when you were succesfull. so please read AND understand next time before posting...

so again: too less information at the moment!

Some people don't care about playing the game anymore. I've had this conversation with others from time to time and they've flat out told me they want to essentially skip everything and just be max level with all the best gear so that they can raid and get better gear. Yeah, I know. It's stupid and makes no logical sense whatsoever and will just result in them complaining that there is no content, but that's what they want.
