No progression content?

Post » Thu Mar 27, 2014 1:11 pm

So ESO is going to have repeatable endgame content?

I am not sure how it will translate but I have a bad feeling about it.

Beyond competing in a leaderboard (and most Raiders don't care about that), I don't see any progression content at all. In fact, since Adventure Zones and Trials are all infinitely repeatable with no lockouts, whats to stop Raiding guilds from gearing all up almost immediately and then having nothing to do?

Although Raiders don't really hang out at the ESO forums, I think this is a discussion that the community needs to have.

Hopefully you will not be getting all your good gear from raiding, instead you'll be getting them from high level crafters.

Yeah, that's a great way to kill off all Raiding in a game.

If you watch the crafting video, they actually say crafters will be able to make the best gear.

If crafters couldn't there would be no point having crafting.

The game isn't even out yet. I don't understand everyone focusing on endgame so fast. There's an entire game to plow through to get to the endgame content and -everyone- is going to be plowing through it also at first. So you're not even getting to endgame to catch up with other people.

From what I can tell the endgame is pvp, bottom line. I like it, I haven't done pvp in awhile. Raiding probably isn't going to be as large of a focus. But I could be wrong. I just hope I'm not.

Well from i know the best gear atm is VR 1-3 and drops from world mobs and PD+open world chests . I bet they will change the system though or nerf set bonuses after a while on VR 1-3 gear. Personally I doubt we will see gear progression in trials and it will be more of a fun thing to do with monetary rewards. From the stance they are taking on various other aspects, i wont be surprised if its more like gw2 when it comes to gear progression with a few extra tiers of gear.

I don't know if i agree. There are always gonna be ppl rushing through content. I mean there are some players whose whole goal is to finish a game as fast as possible. Those guys are gonna burn through content no matter what ZOS( or any studio for that matter) throws at them.

They are kinda like the weather in a way, you just deal with it as you can't change it.

As such, i think devs should do what they can for them, but not get overly bogged down on having to please them. And i think ZOS is doing a good job thus far in setting things up to give not just the 'straight to EG' crowd stuff to do, but giving a nice bit of content for all segments of their playerbase to do.

Yeah, thats what i am afraid of. ESO will be like another GW2, where there is no progression.

Everyone and their mothers, of course, stopped playing GW2 after they got to endgame and found out that there was no progression and nothing else to do.

Does that mean that ESO will die in 3-4 months?

This game will be different than most "rush to 50" mmo's at launch. Sure people may get to 50 in a week, but from VR1 to VR10 will take atleast another month if not more.

There is definitely progression in GW2 with Ascended gear, whether you approve of their system (everyone has to be a crafter) or not. It's also pretty far from dead.

I definitely prefer crafting endgame to raiding, but a combination of the two (I thought that was actually what was in the works) would be ideal.

we know NOTHING about rewards for trials, we know NOTHING how hard trials will be.. so how you can assume there is no progression?

And then? Is the game over?

Traditional games relied on Progression Raiding to gate content and keep people engaged for months and years. But ESO will not have any gates and apparently no progression.

It all sounds like GW2 all over again to me.

lol ?

If crafters couldn't make the BEST gear in the game...crafting becomes useless ? How so ??

U do know only a small % raid to begin with for WoW 20% of 7 mil raid, more than raiding = end game content.

Mmo champ used a chart showing above figures.

GW2 end game is horrible indeed.

What to do when you get the level cap at GW2 ?

Exploring, jump puzzles (LOL), WvWvW Zergfest and the boring structured PvP.

I'd hardly call having to gear grind real content.

It is suppose to be Zerg the latest MMO. Zerg to 50 and THEN whine about lack of endgame.

I think you are jumping the gun a bit OP. Plenty to do in this game. If you rush it you are the only one to blame.

I'd rather the content have no lockout as opposed to being a 1-2 day game where after that is finished you log off to wait for locks. If raiders play 80 hours a week and gear out then it's their fault if they burn out. I'll enjoy the flexibility of running content I enjoy as many or few times as I want. Artificial content extenders like lockouts are incredibly counterintuitive.

I think GW2 was an ok game otherwise. The main problem was that it could not keep people engaged because it had no real progression content. People got to endgame and got bored fast.

In ESO people will do the Adventure ZOnes for a month and a few guilds might try the Raiding for the leaderboards (but not too many, most Raiders dont care about leaderboards) and then there is the AvAvA. It all sounds too similar to GW2

(don't blame me for using WoW as an example) but i remember there were hardcoe raiders speed running instances back in 2007

trying to get the fastest times.
This game hasn't even been launched and there are many complaints.
If its all about shiny's, i would suggest so search further

Its not what i will do. its what people do in MMOs.

So, following your logic, if you are left playing a game with a diminishing playerbase then you are the only one to blame. right? This affects EVERYONE, not just Raiders.

And Raid content isn't infinitely repeatable too?

I'm sorry i must be missing the point because I lost count of how many times I have raided the same instance in a myriad of games I have played.
