Project Tamriel...

Speaking of which, if i try create distant land for Cyrodil and any other region it tells me that there is insufficient memory. If you try and load too many with MGE it just don't work. The most ive managed to create distant land for is summerset isles, valenwood and elsweyr. I also managed Highrock and Skyrim.

Obviously this is an MGE limitation, not a morrowind engine limitation. Hopefully one day this will be resolved, ive not looked into MGE to solve it myself.

There was a report about "4 GB FIX", letting MGEgui to overcome memory limitations. If you have 4+ GB RAM you can try.

http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php
Use it on MGEgui.exe.

Hehe, due to complete luck I stumbled upon this post a few days ago:

Let's thank Valamoor. :P

I'm sure with the new obvious need, something can be done natively to include this into MGE.

Well thanks to him for finding it, and thanks to you for letting me know. :goodjob:

And you may be thinking, "Hey, where's these screenshots you promised??"

Well ive done something better, ive recorded a video. Only thing is the video turned out to be around 900mb and i currently have no editing software installed and im tired!

So im just gonna upload it to youtube as it is. So until it uploads, you can watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9brFzZ4umk and the rest of my crappy videos until it finishes uploading. First one to see it gets a trophy

Should hopefully be getting a new DVD drive fairly soon here, and I plan to pick up my work with Summerset again at that point (I have about all the resources available that could work there, and a ton of concept stuff done as well). It would be great if you wanted to work some magic on the Isles and toss me the new file on it when you get a chance.

Getting a lot of work in on updating my own website here, and once that is launched I think I will work on getting a site up for this project (PT) as well as a site for the Province specifically (both should be pretty painless as they will not require too much more than a Gallery and Forum). That way some more focused and direct communication can get rolling with this project :)

That's all for now.

I've seen some talk here but no action (though I haven't read many pages, so sorry if I'm wrong).
How about we coordinate things and work together a bit, with the farther along projects? :)

Me and Lestat are remaking the castle ruins tileset from Oblivion, has anyone started making these or need them?
Also I'll be making some creatures which could perhaps be used in cyrodiil projects, I'll pm you if you are interested.

And finally, starwarsguy, you made an excellent mudcrab mesh IIRC, do you want me to animate it later?
I'll send you a video of an old crab animation I did if you're interested.

Good luck with the projects everyone.

I've started to make the castle ruins set as well, but I didn't get very far, I got around a third of the way done the exterior Ayleid set though. As for the mudcrab, I was hoping to animate it myself, but you could give it a try, of course I don't have access to my computer yet, which means I don't have access to any of my files, so...

Alright then, if no one else has started the castle ruins tileset, me and Lestat will remake it. :hehe:
About the crab, I'm willing to animate it whenever you want, but there's no problem if you want to do it yourself.

I hope you get your computer back soon!

So do I, but I seriously doubt I'll get it back anytime soon, my parents just found I I had failed Science last semester and now I'm gonna have to wait even longer...

To be honest, there arent many people involved so you can expect much yet. But i agree we do need to collaborate a bit as far as resources go. Obviously each province will use different statics but some will be shared

Well, it doesn't really matter imo, there's no reason we can't collaborate as we are right now, even if it's only a few of the projects.
As I understand all the newer projects need to model tilesets, so it's best to collaborate at this stage so we don't get 2 copies of one tileset out there, and a load of wasted effort, or so that projects which need the tilesets can use ours instead of modelling their own and make progress.

For example we have Bruma like houses and this castle ruins tileset in the works, if we don't let the cyrodiil projects know, they might make their own and waste time.
Same with anyone else who's making a tileset or static which could be used in Skyrim (such as the alyeid exteriors for the border area of cyrodiil). Sharing resources and modelling plans will make the projects flow neatly together.

I agree. Hammerfell has come to a complete stop as theres very little in resources. I have gathered what i could find but theres not alot. I am thinking of shelving Hammerfell and helping out on one of the other provinces just so we can get at least one moving forward.

I completely agree, it's best to start getting things shared between projects early on.

MA, that's too bad about hammerfell, we'd glady accept new members for Skyrim, especially established modders like yourself. :deal:
Though I think any of the other projects could use the help too (more so in some cases).

Btw Monkey, great work on the heightmaps, they're looking awesome. :)

It was touched on briefly in the previous thread, but I think it would help coordination greatly if the master plugins for the project were defined so that people can use common resources, instead of possibly duplicating things in each province, which will lead to bloat and balance problems when they are integrated. Perhaps requiring the TR resources master as one of your masters, as I believe Pluto suggested previously, would be a good idea.

Doing this will also require people to coordinate and communicate, which is a good thing, as you'll be able to bring up and address management issues sooner rather than later.

To bring up something earlier in the thread, what do you mean by this?
Do you think we should have one massive master file to share, or give our projects requirements on resources from all the projects (so people working on it download all the resources), or just send each other the master files to look at? Or something else?

Agreed.
I need the fort ruin tilesets and it was one my next tasks.
Ive completed about half the Ayleid ruin exterior tilesets and have agreed to send it to Lestat so he can uv map em when they are done being modeled.

I'm just uplading a video to youtube of my first attempt at making hills for Summerset Isle.

Does anyone know any decent software for simply shrinking videos, the video is 300mb and is gonna take 2 hours to upload.

zackg: Cool, we'll send you and P:C the fort ruins when they are done.

SGMonkey, I use windows movie maker to shrink down my videos.

Anyway, I'm not quite sure what john meant, but if it's 2 of the first options, I would prefer not to do this. The last one might be more plausable
Skyrim has some resources which cannot be used or shared in other projects, so I guess we would need to come up with some kind of system. I'm not quite sure how 'tight' the permissions for these resources are either. I'll have to ask Lestat.

Plus it would take a hell lot of time to load, and be tougher to handle.

Perhaps tick the 'blocked' checkbox for objects you don't want other projects to use, as a quick solution, rather than having to dig through the readmes of each province.
But again, I'm not sure how freely we can use some of these resources.

VLC media player can convert videos to various formats. I don't think you can use it to change the resolution, though.

It's an earlier version, but I hear it works on 7, and it should be able to downsize that video (hopefully).

EDIT***
Beat me too it Dirnae :P, anyway the program im using is ideal for what i need really :)

***EDIT

Yeah I know, but no matter what format I convert it to using VLC it always comes out messed up. Any way I found a program called STOIK Video Converter which is a tiny program and it converts videos in seconds.

So here we are, my 5 minute first attempt at making hills for Summerset Isle

Woah, you're working on summerset? That's awesome! I would love to offer help on summerset. I've never really worked with exteriors, but I've done most else. How hard can it be right?

Are you going to be creating new architecture for this? I really like the lore on the isles, how the cities are shut off to all but high elves, and those with special permisions. Trade areas for the other races built outside the towns. Ahh, really could be amazing.
