Project V13's PoV?

Post » Fri Apr 10, 2009 11:40 am

Could Chris answer this question?

What are you guys talking about using for the point of view style?

Will it be isometric like the original Fallout games, and like the old style MMO's, or will it be a 3rd person view like you see in all the korean MMO's, or will it be a 1st person view like Fallout 3?

So we would control our player while seeing through the eyes of our target?

How would that work in an MMO setting?

Can you give an example of another 2nd person view game out on the market?

I was joshing with you... thus the "^_^" smiley.

Ahhh, the ol' Internet humour thing strikes again.

Apologies. We aren't talking details of the game, yet.

>.> i like the 2nd person idea .... that would be some trippy ass game play.

for my 2 cents
( what ever happened to the cent symbol anyway? i haven't seen it in a keyboard in ages ... )

i like side car / over the shoulder camera from resident evil 3.
( haven't played RE 4 yet, did that have the same camera?)

it was a good bastardization of 1st and 2rd person.
(uhm ..... kinda had a "theme" of adding comments in parenthesis to my sentences and didn't want to end it) hay, "OC" ..... i got something for ya right here! _|_ (^.^) _|_

RE4 was far superior in terms of camera control. All RE games are in 3rd person, RE 4 had over-the-shoulder 3rd person camera, and had a spring-look function embedded in one of the extra anolog sticks/ dpad, depending on the console.

Perhapse switchable vews? Kinda like Two Worlds had. I'd like to have at least SOMEWHAT of an FPS feel...then again...I dunno. I liked Fallout 3, maybe a mix of that and the older Fallouts. Quality over quantity, but don't make something so highly qualified that it doesn't exist right? 'Cmon gamesas. Let's put SOMETHING out!

That would never work, it would require 75% more work than if it was Isometric 3D. Only 20% of the people here like Fallout 3 anyway, most people prefer Isometric.

THANK GOD IM IN THE RIGHT PLACE (im one if those who doesn't like f3 ^^)

Isometric is my bet aswell, i really like it, while it doesnt give you the massive range.. forward...you get the 360 degree sighting around your character that is much better i think.

Im thinking a lot like fallout tactics gameplay here, but without the pause. Image

I am fine with isometric as long as it is not a fixed angle of viewing. Not a big fan of a fixed angle arrangement. <<<>>>>

Some view like Diablo 3 would be nice, ultimately when it comes to an MMO let people have plenty of options to choose there own view. http://www.CyberneticPunks.com hardcoe Gaming Community

I doubt isometric is viable for MMOs any more. It was then, but not now. The set angle is too limiting in MMOs. Besides, you want to get something close to what the masses are comfortable with, otherwise you will be turning away thousands upon thousands of potential players.

We want Project V13 to be for Fallout Fans and non-fans. It needs to be palatable to the masses to be profitable. >:+)

Looks like they're playing with an over the shoulder perspective in the screenshots:

Maybe isometric is so old that's new again.

Ie maybe there are players out there that might find it new and refreshing, as long as some don't go point out how old isometric actually is

Looks promising. >:+)

There could be an option to lock the camera in place in the isometric angle.

I do not think it would be the preferred angle.

Maybe it's just me, but I've never been able to get immersed in a game with a 3D isometric view. With first person or close third person (over-the-shoulder) I feel more like I am the character rather than just playing a game, which is a big thing for me.

Just my tuppence.
