Project V13 Statistics

Post » Sat Mar 28, 2009 6:56 am

As some of you know, we're using an internal wiki for design & documentation control. I thought it would be fun to share the current stats:

There are 1,901 total pages in the database. This includes "talk" pages, pages about V13Wiki, minimal "stub" pages, redirects, and others that probably don't qualify as content pages. Excluding those, there are 660 pages that are probably legitimate content pages.

497 files have been uploaded.

There have been a total of 35,542 page views, and 12,021 page edits since V13Wiki was setup. That comes to 6.32 average edits per page, and 2.96 views per edit.

I thought about posting the Most Viewed Pages list, but the page names give away too much... ^_^

Enjoy!

I don't have time to read everything that is posted here, but I do read that thread. Like I said previously, some of it is on the money, some it is way off base, and there is a whole bunch somewhere in the middle.

Can't wait till we get to find out more about Project V13

Thanks Chris. I am still catching up on the posts so I apologize if I made you repeat yourself. At least, I (we) know that you are watching... :-)

It is good to hear that some of our posts are on the money... :D

Hopefully one of those pages is titled:

"Reasons This Product will NOT be Rated T for Teen"

Oh... and please tell us there is not one titled:

"Design Schemes for Nuke Elves and Rad Dwarves"

A good beginning I bet. I really love how handy wiki's can be for collaborative work on documents and various types of projects. While I will not hold my breath (Don't have the proper perk for that... yet!) for more information, I shall wait with great anticipation. :P Image

Yes wiki's are great for design as well as just about anything else you can think of. While there are simple wikis you can download and use on your PC, my favorite is MediaWiki the one Wikipedia uses.

In case anyone is interested, this page shows you how to set up your own MediaWiki on your PC.

An essential link on it is dead, but you can use the Internet Archive to view it.

And, if any of you still don't know it, for a wiki about the Fallout universe, see The Vault:

http://fallout.wikia.com/

It covers Project V13 as well:

Oooohh, cryptic numbers! These stats are meaningless though without other important modifying statistics such as:

Quarts of Chinese takeout consumed.
Average daily caffeine intake in milligrams by development staff
Time spent giggling, chortling, and going "squee!" over new ideas.

660 pages of nougaty fallouty goodness! Erm excuse me "project v13y" goodness.

No NukeElves or Rad Dwarves though? blast! What about gamma gnomes? Are you guys sure it's legal to make an RPG not based on Tolkien mythos?

Best of luck on the project, looking forward to more info!

Yay, good to hear it. I was worried for awhile since they have little over a year to develop it, and last I heard they didn't have much. I told myself they must have design stuff and things going on in secret. I guess I'm a genius.

This is the most pre-production time I've ever had for a project. It's nice. We've had time to think through a lot of issues, come up with some stellar concept art and really get a grasp on the project as a whole. When we transition from pre-production to production, it will mean we can spend most of time actually working instead of scrambling to fix holes in the design.

Thanks!

I was a proud owner of a first edition #1. Sold mine when the first live-action movie came out... couldn't bear to read it it anymore.

You can. It's only $30m. ^_^

This might be a dumb hope because I'm quite uninformed, but I hope it won't require a monthly payment or premium account thingy... will it :? :?:

Not up to me, I'm afraid. If I had my way, it'd be free, but these services require a lot of money to maintain (equipment, bandwidth/IT, developer's salaries).

There are pretty much two ways most MMOs are making money:

1. Subscription (usually monthly, with discounts for longer durations)
2. Micro-payments

Advertising is a 3rd option, but it's really hard to generate enough revenue from just pure advertising.

Subscriptions are still very common, but you are seeing more and more micro-payment games.

Micro-payments usually mean that that game is free but not all content is available to free players. Usually, items, abilities or game events cost a small amount of money. The overall effect is that players pay as much as they want to get what they want out of the game. Want to play a little, you can play for free or spend just a few bucks every now and then. Hard-core players spend more (usually even more than what a monthly subscription would cost).

It hasn't been decided, but I would expect that V13 would be similar to the rest of the market.

So that means V13 is probably going to be subscription based?

I'm not a developer or anything, but micro-payments and microtransactions wouldn't really work for this kind of thing. If it was a browser based game micro-payments and stuff would work. Please don't do things like pay $20 and get your own Vertibird! It's a real mean move, and normally unnecessary.

Totally unrelated, but since we have a Fallout developer here, were the Vertibirds pre-war tech or made by the Enclave? Half-and-half? I always thought they were made after the bombs dropped, but in Fallout 3 in a Museum they're prototypes, thought to be ready in 2088 or something. Was there any facts about them in the original games I missed?
