Why are you wanting to play at 1080i anyway? That just creates tearing and ghosting. The "i" stands for interleaved, which means that the image appears on your screen every other line at a time. When you turn, iit tears and creates ghosting on some TVs. The "p" means progressive and is a cascade effect for appearing on your screen, ideal for gaming, especially FPSes.

Bigger numbers don't always mean better, like this and golf for example.

AFAIK no console games run at 1080 resolution of any kind native, they're all simply upscaled from 720p

You do know on most Tv's 720p>1080i right?

1080P>720P>1080i

This is absolutely incorrect if by > you mean better/higher definition graphics.

the 1080 and 720 refer to how many lines of resolution are horozontally across the screen. The i and p stand for how thay are refreshed. i standing for interlaced which means 1/2 at a time (such as lines 1,3,5,7,9 etc then 2,4,6,8 etc). Progressive means all the lines are progressively scanned and refreshed at the same time. So 1080i still has 360 more lines of resolution thus a higher definition picture.

Now how often the lines of resolution are refreshed whether they are interlaced or progressive is determined 100% by your TV...... 120MHz, 240MHz or 600MHz refresh rates (currently only available on plasma TVs) (yes, plasma currently has the fastest refresh rate and clearest pictures for fast moving video)

Higher definition, but again, terrible for most First Person Shooters/video games, due to being interleaved.

This thread really cracks me up - the game gets gimped for the console crowd, with a massive in-game world, so that it can play on crap PS3s and XBox's, and now you wonder why you can't get all hi-res textures and 1080 on your big screen? Get a good PC, get the good community mods, and never look back. Stop being the lowest common denominator, then blaming the company for catering to you.
