No prophet in my game for KOTN

Post » Sat Sep 13, 2014 5:33 pm

I've just tried sqv ND00 to see if the game recognizes KOTN installed, and it does.

The NPCs have the "prophet" topic too.

The church is desacrated and all.

But...

no guard stopping me there.

And, most of all, no prophet. Which means I can't play KOTN.

Possible cause:

My game started with Alternative start - arrive by ship. Don't know if it messes with KOTN or not. At the start inside the ship, I decided to start in Anvil, and I chose Open better cities option. My Better Cities installation at that point already had the Better Cities - Knights of the nine patch.esp. Anyway, NO prophet.

Only AFTERWARDS, though, did I install Open better cities.esp (I had not done this before, though the cities were already functioning well as open cities... well no surprise really, since I read that the .esp should just modify AI packages) and some other compatibility patches between Better cities and some quest mods. The save game I used after this new installation (I used BAIN, fyi) of Better Cities (and rebuilding Bashed patch.esp and ordering with BOSS) was me being inside a weapon shop in Bravil. I fast traveled to Anvil, and... STILL no prophet. :(

I also tried changing load order of Alternative start.esp to load before Knights.esp. But not even that did the trick.

So I'm asking you: do you have an idea of what I should do in order to have the prophet showing up in Anvil?

He's probably spawned inside the closed city.

Try

coe -185768, -28506, 140

That should take you to the location of the Nirnroot by the pond in the closed city, if he's there you can do the convo then use coc to get out.

That's assuming the cells for the open city are different from the closed.

alternatively using moveto xx000F7D (where xx is the load order # for KotN) might work. Or placeatme in your open Anvil for that matter.

So it's kinda like teleporting to the prophet closed city location... I see.

Is there a more immersion-friendly way, provided you can come up with another way?

Thank you very much for your input.

For the moment, I think I will just open the console, write "startquest bbcmenu" and in the upcoming window menu I will toggle closed Anvil, while keeping the other towns open.

Not ideal, but not bad after all, methinks.

(Oh, and the prophet DOES appear if I toggle closed cities... but if my memory serves me well, I recall it's possible to toggle cities open or closed individually).
