Proposed community project

Yeah, TR has one that I idle in but it's not like many people actually chill there. Just TR people and me it seems. I think if the gamesas morrowind mods forum community had it's own IRC channel that was not associated with a project, where we could all share ideas instantly it would be beneficial to the community as a whole.


agreed, i talk to the guys on skyrim but adding people can be a pain if we try to talk about skyrim, so a proper one for us to use would be great, MAKE ONE FOR US PLEASE?

Hmm... I quite like the sound of another ModTown. We'd have to sort of scrap current plans but we could still make a snowy, Nord themed island. Could be fun for a laugh anyway.

What was this fantastic idea Enzo?

So we can do the Nord city as Modtown 2010-2011 and the Telvanni tree as the serious lore-friendly city. This plan keeps getting better!

This is an hour's work pulling land. :) The canyon is intended to be Telvanni straddling the canyon with a poor section alongside the road out of the canyon. The plateau will be a large Com/Nord/Imperial village.

Looks pretty nice considering it's so early. Where would we be without you? Not sure about that rather improbable canyon though, pull a bit more land on the other side of it and then we'll talk.

Lol, the thin side of the canyon is going to be a tall mountain. I haven't placed a single rock yet. I'll probably put a lighthouse at the very end. :) This doesn't have any texturing yet either. :) It's still VERY early yet.

I'll keep working on it. Any and all suggestions are welcome. :)

A mountain on the other side of the canyon? That sounds perfect. That'll give us some space to stick a few dungeons and stuff. Good idea that.

The more I think about this, the more I like the idea of another ModTown.

try #elderscrolls on chatspike. its not for modding specifically, though.

I am very much interested in this project. You guys don't mind if i jump on board do you? I can create Npcs fairly well, i most enjoy interior small exterior are designs. just give me a theme and a general direction you want this to go in and i can see what i can do.

I want to do the weapon shop, since I have an idea for a cool merchant character. He will sell the normal stuff, in addition to a few joke-type weapons (standard MW/TR/BM stuff with crazy enchantments) and will sell out of a cave.

Daily bump and status report:

Landmass- being worked on
Theme- seems to be Nord/Imperial with a Telvanni branch and an area for possible dungeons
Weapon shop in the cave has architecture and its unique merchant character is concepted

I like it, looks like a fairly good layout. Though Telvanni next to snow-capped mountains? That's certainly different (but not in a bad way), it'll be interesting to see how it looks later on in development.

I'll add the character to the esp containing the weapon shop and any other contributions I make.

Oh, and we need a name. Let's give 48 hours for name ideas and then I'll set up a poll with the best ones.

Call the island Northreach. it's nord basically, they don't get fancy on names too too much. dunno about the town name or name for telvanni tower yet. if you are doing some docks, let me know and i will whip up some nordic looking sail textures for ya.

We will be doing docks later, though I possibly want to do the ship interior. I'm already doing the boatman. He's not Nord, but the boat is.

Also, it seems my character textures were completely replaced by the Better Bodies set that came with COM, so let's consider Better Bodies a dependency.

which boats are you using. the DE boat has an interior but the longboat does not. if your using both types i can whip up some sails for both kinds. even some for the galleons if you decide to use those. i'll start whipping up some for the longboats a little later. I'll make a dozen or so and you can decide what you like. unless you have an idea already?

We'll probably need two to four ships parked at the docks for atmosphere. Also, one or two ships will probably be Imperial since they share the dock. I haven't picked yet which ship model to use for the boatmaster.

Daily status report:

We have a rough layout plan, (see landmass screen), so we need some of the exterior people to start mapping out the city buildings. We can't actually start adding them yet, but if we know what goes where actual building placement later on will be more efficient. Remember the weapon shop (in this town it's separate from the armor shop because I'm working on a special character) is in a cave. There is also a rough idea for a quest storyline but that will not be fleshed out until we have an idea of the town layout (no quest work for a while!) We need people to start working on generic NPCs (I already have the weapon merchant, boatman, and Daedric cultist lord for the eventual quest). This project is progressing nicely so far.

First of all, is this a moddtown or a community town. Moddtown is more of one big city that contains each individual modder's work, presumably, the said modder's prized work. I view a moddtown as a candy box that contains all the modder's best work in one big package. From the looks of this, this is a lore-correctish mod that won't have individual modder's avatars representing them, right?
