Prosthetics in Lore?

Post » Tue Dec 23, 2014 8:40 pm

I'm a pretty big fan of the Elder Scrolls Games and my nephew usually watches me play or plays when his aunt isn't around. Unfortunately due to a recent automotive accident my nephew lost his right leg, and tonight was the first time I he was healthy enough for me to see him. Of course to treat him I brought my laptop and let him make his own character and play as long as he wanted, until a question arose which caught me off guard. He asked me if "anybody in the elder scrolls games had prosthetic limbs?". Even though I am a big fan I can only remember parts of Morrowind, Obilvion & Skyrim, so I immediately said that I'm not sure. From his reaction I knew it was a mistake so i said I would look into it.

So since Google isn't working for me I'm hoping that somebody that knows a large amount about the lore know anything about somebody that uses a prosthetic in the Elder Scrolls?

This isn't a discussion of whether its possible or not because I know it possible for forswarn to have to have a Briarheart transplanted into them, I'm just not sure if there are stories of people missing arms or legs.

If anybody could help with this It would be greatly appreciated, It might possibly help him accept some of the changes he has to make now.

Thank you for Reading.

I'm sure there are others, but the first name that comes to my mind is http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:MW-creature-Yagrum_Bagarn.jpg

Yagrum isn't the most dignified example admittedly. Another example would be Sotha Sil of the Tribunal, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:Lore-gods-Tribunal.jpg and augmented himself with...whatever he does.

Well, there was a crazy Wood Elf in the TESA Redguard game that was in a Dwarven sort of wheelchair - lost his legs from a steam jet. And yes, Yagrum Bagarn; the Last Living Dwarf, distorted by Corprus.

I think that's it for in-game characters, unfortunately, but there might be someone in the lore or in-game books I can't think of. And apparently, if you get into the really esoteric out-of-game stuff, Pelinal Whitestrake is kind of a cyborg. I think.

He's not one of the playable races, but the Shivering Isles Gatekeeper's right arm ends at the joint, and the rest is replaced with a mace, axe, or sword. I'm not sure if this counts though, since he's a flesh creature, and was built this way from the start.
