I agree, and I think Oblivion already had promiscuity references, just not prostitution as a service offered to the player. I think prostitution should be linked to thieves guild interests and drug dealers, they go hand in hand in real life too.

(On an opening note, please realise this is a board for a mature game with a fairly mature audience before putting it up for moderation)

It's just i can see this making sense in the world of ES. and im not just getting the idea from Fo:NV.

Just think about it. there's tons of beggars around, surely some of them would be prosttutes in order to earn money? i know this is also a forum on introducing s*x into the game, which i dont think is a bad idea. Prostitution would make the cities a lot more realistic, especially *rough* or poor cities, since they said there will be a lot more cities in skyrim. and, yes, both male and female prosttutes would be availible, which i suppose would introduce homosixuality, but that could also make NPC's much more unique. If ur against that, think of FO:NV and how little effect it had to ur gameplay of it, as well as it being one of the best perks around lol.

I could also see it as part of the Thieves guild, as they could be the "eyes and ears" of its leader as well as the beggars and they can subtley*acquire* information from certain people. and i can see a small quest line that you can manage them, with infamy coming from it of course.

Summary: i think this could really help with the immersion of the game, and to make random NPC's more unique.

What do ye think?

There certainly is a place in Skyrim for the oldest profession in the world. The capital of the province would definitely attarct that kind of alternative life sryle. The question therefore is: how would you nake it relevant to the story/quests?

Technically fisherman/hunter/forager would be the oldest profession in the world.

I'd really like to see TES go into more of a nitty gritty fantasy world, so yes, I'd love this. I think it'd be great if this game at least had some more sixual elements.

uummm....why does it need to be relevant to anything? it's kind of like eating or sleeping, it's a function of everyday life. there doesn't have to be a quest or story behind it. boy wants nookie. girl agrees but only for 50 gold coins. done.

although i can see a quest for it. i'm often on that very quest each and every day. LOL

It wouldn't really "introduce" homosixuality. It's been in the series for a while now.

Prostitution is one of those things I'm ambivalent about. If it's in, fine. If it's not, whatever. It wouldn't add to my immersion any more than it would take away from it, which is to say, it wouldn't. As long as it doesn't make things so overly-sixualized, but I don't see that happening.

Of course. Wake up in the morning, eat breakfast, hire a hoker. That's my daily ritual. Everyday life.

You do know ?The Oldest Profession in the World? is an established euphemism, don't you?

The Bretons seemed to have prostitution as part of their http://www.imperial-library.info/content/morrowind-mystery-princess-talara - probably a bit cold for the Nords to do so

And what a great thread it was.

This would be great since I am in fact a prosttute in real life, I bet I'd make one hell of a prosttute in Skyrim!

I'm in favor of prosttutes if they're more like tavern wenches. The other thread demanded that the [censored]s all get a unified guild that's well established everywhere, which I really think is just stupid. But I don't think it should be anything that the player themselves gets to participate in. More like background resources like Assassin's creed, where you just use them to acquire information. So it's not really any sort of extra game function, but simply a job that NPC's can hve, just as others can be woodcutters and miners.

it is??? wow i wish i lived like that. :)

maybe not for you but for some, maybe. like you said if it's there you wouldn't do it. fine. others might. 'everyday life' was referring to six in general, not specifically prostitution. as long as something like this wasn't too prominent in the game i'd have no problem with it.

And lose the younger generation of gamers due to rating restrictions? I don't think Beth is that stupid. Think about it. There is more than one generation of gamers on this forum cause we all got hooked on different TES games. I think it's fairly fair to say that once a TES fan, always a TES fan, so why would Beth potentially exclude a whole generation of gamers (and potential paying fans) through making the game too mature for them? Sure, I guess many will just play the game anyway, restrictions and all, but surely they do their job and alot of people just would be able to buy the game (?). So I don't reckon prostitution is on the cards, simply because I think Beth would lose more future profits than what they would gain.

You know what would make the game more realistic? Removing magic. Removing dragons. Removing elves. Removing Orcs.

Oblivion had prosttutes. You just couldn't use them. Didn't hurt Oblivions sales much?

I think you shouldn't mix FO with TES. They are completely different games (setting) and, simply, shouldn't be mixed, lol. I doesn't add well to Skyrim, imho.

It would make sense.

Not necessary though. I'd like to see it, I want my role-playing to be as realistic as possible.

I never said if it's there I wouldn't participate in it. I would, but I wouldn't miss it if it wasn't included.

Skyrim is going to be rated M regardless, so I don't see the point. Morrowind even had a strip club.

I think TES is far too tame a setting to need that as part of it... It'd be like having prosttutes in Bree or Gondor, in Lord of the Rings. IMO its unneeded in this title;though IMO suitable in others ~Like Fallout, Witcher, or perhaps even Rage.
