Protagonist voice

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 9:03 pm

Anyone know whether Alcatraz is voiced or not? Not that its a deal-breaker or anything, but the fact that Nomad and Psycho were voiced made the narration of the previous Crysis games that much better.

I′ve seen alot of singleplayer gameplay snippets with him not saying anything, but the `be the weapon` trailer had him referencing himself so I′m confused.

No, he does not talk in the game. Even though 90% of the dialouge he is 'talking' to someone, you never hear him talk.

That's sad 'cause that's what made Nomad and Psycho so cool, their personality(especially psycho). The only guy that managed to make a point by keeping his puke hole shut was Freeman.

I don't mind if the main character doesn't speak, I find only funny when someone contact you through radio, and your character doesn't reply and the other one just can guess the reply and evrything is good.

Think of the situation, you are in contact with the only one that can save the world, you contact him to do some stuff, and he doesn't reply. Your first though would be that he is dead, captured or anything else, but instead you keep contacting him hoping he is doing everything.

Is certainly a paradox, but is a classic game paradox, like not beign able to destroy a wooden door even if you have an atomic bomb launcher, we are so used to it that doesn't matter anymore I think.

Its not so much that he talked ALOT, its just that he actually acknowledged the existence of those around him. If there′s one thing that makes the story less believable in most FPS games its when my superiors grab the radio and tell me `go blow up that bunker`and my character remains completely silent.

No `roger doger`? No `you got it eagle eye`? I mean half the time I play these games I′m expecting the guy on the other side of the comm to say `uhh delta, did you get that last transmission? Yo? Delta? Respond you dumbass!`

Again, its not game-breaking but its an issue that would seem easy enough to remedy.

I personally liked Nomad, a Delta Force operator who while on his hostage rescue mission and then later when dealing with hostile aliens chose not to constantly mouth off about everything he does.

Respond you dumbass!
That reminds me when I was on one of my several campaign playthroughs and decided to see what would happen if I called in the airstrike on the KPA EWar cruiser before I had gotten off of it.

Strickland: "Don't be a damn fool Nomad , get some distance between you and that cruiser before calling in the airstrike , YOU STUPID ****!!"
Nomad:"...."

LMAO xD

To make it even weirder the voice of alcatraz from the be the weapon trailer sounds exactly like Nomad. Maybe its a glitch of the beta and we'll hear him speak in the final version.

I hope so. Because after Crysis and Crysis Warhead having no voice would be backwards for me. That Freeman's job.

That could actually be very likely the reason. The leak wasn't final, and many sounds/videos were still missing so I hope that this is the case.

I'd really like Alcatraz to be able to speak in the game. :) The voices of the characters in Crysis 1 were chosen quite good, and in general I feel much more immersed in a single-player campaign in any shooter when characters really talk to each other, when they respond and react to what's happening at the moment. And that was another good thing for me about Crysis 1. As for HL2, I like it, yes, but this speechless Gordon Freeman disappointed me a lot. Sometimes I even wanted to shout at him: "Stupid f*ck, answer to people! Why do you keep silence?!" Valve wants us to be him, to think that we ARE Gordon Freeman, but I for one don't want this. I want to play for a protagonist who has his own personality and is believable, not for this senseless mute nobody who pretends to be me.

Well in the very beginning of the game someone is talking to Alcatraz and he doesn't respond by talking, but by nodding his head. that pretty much told me he is going to be silent.. dont get your hopes up.

NEWS ALERT: PROTAGANIST OF CRYSIS 2 IS MUTE. UNABLE TO TALK. CRYTEK RESPONDS WITH "THE STORY IS ABOUT NANOSUIT. NOT DUMB GUY."

God I hope not.
