Province: Cyrodiil. Region #1, Stirk [WIP]

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 5:25 pm

I find it pretty hard to believe you are quite active on our forums if you don't even know of the island's size. Can't have more than one "village" on it, and while Stirk does have a lot of fishing going on, I'd hardly call it a fishing village.
Well when I said "little" I meant "not big" like other islands, if that makes any sense.
Helena said "the people of Stirk are largely hard-working fisher-folk" in http://www.provincecyrodiil.com/viewtopic.php?p=5645#p5645. I was just wondering how the government of Stirk is established or decided.

There's a brief explanation on the http://stirk.provincecyrodiil.com/about.html, linked in the first post, but we don't want to give away too much.

Will P:C have any unique Ayleid clutter in the Stirk release? Dwemer ruins in TES III felt a lot more realistic with all the personal effects like goblets, chairs, beds. Oblivion's Ayleid ruins only had magic rocks and 10 geometric statues. Way too "clean"

I know, for those to be "cities" they sure looked like some random mazes underground.

I always thought their settlements were located aboveground (like Mankar Camoran's palace and White-Gold Tower) and what we were raiding were crypts and temples. Doesn't make much sense for a race that literally worships air and light to cloister themselves away underground all the time.

I know. They called them cities though. Matter of fact, that one Ayleid king had a throne in one of the ruins. Y'know, for the quest-line on the Ayleid Statues? We are off-topic as hell, eh?

Still could be a crypt. Plenty of Nordic tombs in Skyrim have thrones in them where you typically encounter a named Draugr. Or alternately, wasn't the king of Nenalata a lich anyway? That would also explain why he had a place to chill underground.

EDIT: But yeah, fairly off-topic, haha.

we plan on it, + new creatures, skeletons are pretty boring...

although there's no much exiting about plates and cupboards. We've gotta find the medium between The Sims Aylieds! and Oblivion.

also, it's on topic, discussions about Cyrodiil could help when coming up with idea, although they're best to bad he at the forums.

The King of Nenalata wasn't a lich. Umbacano only turned into a lich when he turned into the king. As the king was dead.

Wolli: I agree skeletons are crap.

Question: what will the releases probably be? Considering how huge Cyrodiil is and how small Stirk is (although all the models had to be made from hand, where as in the future you can copy and paste more.)

I mean i'm going to guess and say it'll go City, City's county, next city, etc.

but is there any idea about this from the moders?

We work with regions, atm we work on the Gold Coast exterior while we do the interiors of Stirk. Once interiors of Stirk are ready we will have GC exterior nearly finished, and its cities partially built. NPCing and questing at Stirk can start.
This way everyone in the team can contibute all the time, maximizing input. Also going region by region makes it easier to have coherency in cluttering and worldbuilding.

At most we will work at three different regions, with graded level of detail;
exterioring & city building, interiors, NPCs and questing

Anvil is in planning, Sutch and Kvatch will soon follow.

Big releases. Like, real big. Each region is basically a release, so the second release will be The Gold Coast with Anvil and Sutch included (I can't recall at the moment whether we are including Kvatch as well as that'd be overkill and it's precisely on the border between three regions, hard to say)
Stirk is only little because it's our first release, aiming to draw more attention to the project in general.

Well, I dont think we will be waiting years for a release like TR. That sort of thing just looks bad. This is why I would advocate something every 6-12 months even if its only somehing like a beta. We will see though.

Why would it look bad? It's not like we're getting paid for this.

Anyway, releasing something new every year would be great.

Looking great so far.
In http://www.provincecyrodiil.com/coppermine/displayimage.php?pid=40&fullsize=1 picture it looks way larger than TR's Stirk for TES IV, like two or three times their size. Is that correct?
I can only remember, I was testing it some years ago & it wasn't that large.

Oh yeah, it's larger as the Morrowind game world is larger in scale than Oblivion.
And the reason years and years before a new release looks bad is because people start to lose interest and get bored with what they already have. Keeping things fresh so that we can't literally go trough 300 playthroughs before a new release is a good idea. Unless progress is too slow, which will signal interest loss. TR just had to redo some things. P:C hopefully won't do stuff like that. No disrespect to TR.

This conversation probably isn't helpful to all the modders at TR.

just give them time, they'll get there. And if you're bored of TR map 1 and 2 download the map 4 alpha.

Hey, I love TR and even recently got promoted for interiors. I'm just saying that they initially thought what they had was good but now, they want to make it better. It is just taking time and some people get restless. I wasn't able to even get TR until August of last year so...I can wait. Those who have waited since map 2's release may be getting restless. I'm guessing we are off-topic and such. You guys said you are making the province more tropic right? To go with lore? That will be a sight to behold when development gets far.

Yeah, that's technically tropic. Jungles are almost always tropic. At least as far as I know. (Watch me be wrong.)

I don't know if you'd count it as "jungle" but New Zealand (for example) has some gorgeous lush rainforests, and is just a cool temperate environment. I'd really like to see something like that in PC, really, in Nibenay somewhere or something. http://stevetopper.com/oscommerce/images/Rain-Forest-Waterfall.jpg http://www.lurid.chuvashia.com/Premium%20Wallpapers%20%202007%20Collection%201/Montane%20Rainforest,%20Mount%20Kinabalu%20National%20Park,%20Borneo.jpg https://www.amherst.edu/media/view/286714/original/NZ05_2388.jpg
