A Province Divided:
The Interregnum OOC And Sign Up Thread
The year is 2E 472, it has been nearly 500 years since Tamriel has had an Emperor on the throne. The provinces have broken apart into a complex web of small warlords and kingdoms. Even the Imperial Province is nigh unrecognizable.
Since the death of the Akabiri Potentate Savririen-Chorak forty years ago, the Empire has had a string of ineffectual leaders, unable to keep the old Counts from revolting. Soon, the Imperial City found itself separated from the rest of the Empire.
Finally, a minor warlord invaded the Imperial City and wiped out almost all of the Empire's remaining Legions.
Now what little remains of the old Reman Empire has retreated south to Leyawiin, and awaits its doom.
In the West, the highly independent lords of the Colovians swiftly united under the banner of the Colovian Empire.
In the north, a tribe of Boethia worshippers have taken over the former county of Bruma, instituting a new religion based on their Daedric Prince.
In the East, Cheydinhal has fallen to minor, bickering warlords fighting for control of small towns and villages.
In the South, Bravil and Skingraad have united as a single nation.
And on the rocky coasts of the Abbecean Sea, a small city state has formed.
This is a time of great hardship in Cyrodiil, a time of warriors and kings, of mages and assassins. Perhaps there is a new Reman amongst these young kingdoms, a leader that the people of Tamriel can unite around.
?All are sure is that the Interregnum has begun.
But there is still hope.
Recently, a council was called to meet in the White Gold Tower to discuss the future of Tamriel. The leaders of many of the kingdoms have sent representatives, and several leaders have also come. These debates may just be the spark to begin a bloody war, or may lead to a great peace that shall stand the test of time.

History:
Fadrill's early life was troubling to say the least, as he was sent to an orphanage at age 3 after his mother and father were killed by anti-daedric bigots. He has resented the divines to this day, as soon as he was skilled enough to begin killing in the name of Boethiah.
His first target was the man who killed his mom, an Imperial named Belan. The imperial was living a normal life in Skingrad, he had a wife, and two children. Fadrill was furious, the man slaughtered his family and then built one of his own! This was intolerable! Fadrill killed the father and mother leaving the child to Fadrill's fate, the child couldn't identify Fadrill so he was never caught.
Fadrill then began recruiting assassins forming a small company that all killed in Boethiah's name. Fadrill eventually met a man named Cassamir who employed him and asked to help Cassamir take control of Bruma from a warlord, the first thing Fadrill noticed about Cassamir was a boethian symbol hanging from his neck, He agreed and did as Cassamir asked. They took the city easily, as Cassamir had brought a friend named Orvas to help him, the warlord was no match.
He was then given a position as the leader of Boethiah's Hand, Cassamir's assassins who would eventually become his security detail as well. It was Fadrill who suggested that they take people of adequate strength, cunning, and determination at age 14 to train them in the ways of the assassin, or in the ways of the Warrior.

Age: 33
Moral Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Class: Soldier
Skills:
Combat: One-handed, Block, Heavy Armour, Archery
Magic: Restoration, Destruction
Stealth: Speech
Appearance: Clean shaven, Dark Brown hair, hazel eyes
Clothing/Armor: Chainmail Armour,
Equipment: Ebony Sword, Steel Shield
Miscellaneous: 5x Healing Potions,
Personality: Honourable and Intelligent, Tiberius has become dark and brooding recently, as with Flavius incapitated, he is now in charge of what remains of the Reman Empire, something he's accepted with great reluctance.
Unique Trait or Ability (if applicable): N/A
Background: Tiberius was an officer in the Imperial City, and escaped to Leyawiin with the rest of the Imperial remnants, as one of the few remaining officers. He supported Flavius' appointment as leader, hoping that he would unite at least the province of Cyrodiil. But after Flavius was wounded after an attack, Tiberius found himself in command through seniority. He dosen't want the position, but he feels it is his responsibility to keep the Empire together until Flavius comes back.
Allegiance: Reman Empire
Roughly 15,000 soldiers are left after the disastrous defeat at Imperial City, and they have re-consolidated in Leyawiin to prepare for the final stand of the Empire.
10,000 legionairres, 4,700 ancillaries, and 300 cavalry.
Each legionary is equipped with a throwing spear, a large full body shield, a short sword, chain mail covered by steel shoulder pads and chest plates. They also have all the supplies needed for sieges, like shovels and hammers.
They are good at engineering siege engines on the spot, and are very well disciplined.
The ancillaries are made up of volunteer soldiers, with light armor, they are used as flanking and distracting forces. They have the same short swords, and have smaller round shields.
The cavalry is heavily armored with steel on the horses and riders. They are similar to Cataphracts, but they are hard to use in the lush jungles of southern Cyrodiil.
They are still strong, but are divided, and there is not a single full legion. The command structure is divided, and leading them is like herding cats. But they are all well trained, and career soldiers.
Flavius took control of the Empire after the Consulate died in the defense of Imperial City from a minor warlord. Because the Consulate failed to defend the Imperial City, the capital of the Empire was relocated to the council hall of the city of Leyawiin in the Nibenay Delta.
Flavius was nothing more than a meritocrat of a dying Empire, and now he is the only leader they have left. Still, he is considered fairly bright, and is well known as a diplomat and strategist.
Many are hoping that he will restore the Empire to at least a shadow of its former self.

Clothing/ Armor:
Armor: The very armor he used when he was in the legion except painted red and have the Anvil symbol on the chest plate
Casual: He is often wearing Imperial nobles clothes.
Born in 2E436 in Anvil. He was the son of Avenius Umbranox, the count of anvil at the time, and countess Tulia Umbranox. His father knew that the empire would eventually have to withdraw from the city and saw potential in his son to light a torch in the upcoming Dark times. So when Aventius was 11, his father personally taught him how to be a leader. Over several years, Aventius was taught in combat, and leadership. However when he reached 23, his father and mother died almost at the same time. Due to the empire being forced out of Anvil, he became King instead of count.
For years, he was building up an army. He plans to reunite Cyrodill under his banner. Through both conquest, and diplomacy. By 28, he married the now queen Vinnius Umbranox and fathered a son, Aventius Umbranox II. When he is 36, his army his large and qualified enough to began a conquest on Cyrodill. Though he pledges to only use it when a country fails to side with him. Just recently he invaded and took Kvach to gain respect on the warlords and to expand his influnece.

5,000 heavy infantry, 8,000 light infantry, 3,000 archers, 2,000 Calvary, 1,000 engineers, and 550 scouts.
Heavy Infantry, Decked out in the heavy version of the traditional Anvil Armor, they are are used as a brute force and are the spearhead of the Anvil military. They normally carry spears and a longsword. They always use a shield.
Light Infantry, Wearing the light version of the Anvil armor, (without the Chainmail and steel.) they are used to protect flanks and even flank the enemy. they won't often use a spear, uses a shortsword, and a light shield.

Calvary: They are used to fight the enemy on horses. The majority of them uses shortsword but are known to have spears, and even a few uses a crossbow.
Engineers: they are responsible for building siege engines.
Scouts: These people are dressed in light armor and sneak behind enemy lines to gather intell. However a select few are permitted to enter cities to spy.
in total the army has 19,550 men.
The army has the advantage of good officers when it comes to strategies, and the determination of the troops themselves who believes in Aventius's goal in a unified Cyrodiil and will die to the last man for King Aventius and Cyrodiil. The flaw is that while they are decently trained, it is not enough compare to his potential enemies. Such as the Reman Empire.
Background: Ruled by the Umbranox Family for centuries, Anvil prospered as a port city. When Aventius Umbranox's father died, he gained control of the kingdom, seeking to Unite Cyrodill under his banner he became an ambitous. He is known to be a harsh but peacefull lord as he enforces his law strictly with the result of a low crime rate despite the hardships Cyrodill is facing. With his military, willing to sacrafice their lives over Aventius's beliefs, have already besieged Kvatch.

Allegiance: Skingrad-Bravil.
The Knights Flagellant (1000) – Remnants of the legion, ex-mercenaries and some actual knights grouped into two regiments, one of mounted knights and another of those without mounts. The most experienced and the best equipped of The Army of the Eight, they are the core of Rislau’s forces.
The mounted troops ride coursers and primarily wield lances however they all carry a secondary weapon such as a single handed sword or mace.
The foot soldiers wear heavy steel plate armor, half of them use two handed swords, one battalion, and the other half wield long swords and shields.
Due to the weight of their equipment and the demands of their horses any Units of The Knight’s Flagellant are stationed in Skingrad, Bravil and the larger forts.
1 Brigade
1 Regiment, mounted. 1 Regiment, infantry. (2)
2 Battalions (4)
5 Companies (20)
5 Units of 10 Knights (100)
The Devout (4500) – Split into two groups, the Infantry and the Archers.
Infantry (3000) – The infantry of The Devout are drawn from those who have pledged themselves to the service of the eight, only half of them are equipped with any sort of proper equipment, those who do have equipment wield swords and shields with leather and chain armor. Those without wield anything from their fathers or grandfathers swords to pitchforks and wooden clubs, as for armor some have none whilst some have rusted or incomplete iron armor.

2 Battalions (4)
5 Companies (20)
5 Units of 30 Devout (100)
Archers (1500) – The archers were equipped at the expense of the Church of the Eight themselves, five hundred have been trained or already knew the correct use of longbows and the other one thousand have been give far more simple crossbows. All have simple cloth armor, not designed to defend the wearer from blows and attacks but to allow them so move and keep them warm.

The Priests Militant are ex-soldiers now passed their combat best who have been hired by Rislau to train his next wave of soldiers. All have a white tunic with a red band running from left shoulder to right hip, under which they wear steel chain mail. They wield whatever the unit they command does.

10 command a battalion (40)
15 command a regiment (30)
20 command a brigade with one leader, The High Priest Militant (20)

The Redeemed (2000) - The Redeemed are Arch-Count Rislau’s great project. Men aged from 18-22 are taken into the new barracks raised on the outskirts of Skingrad and Bravil, they do not leave until their training is complete. The training is hard and many of the weak die or are expelled from the ranks. Trained and eventually led, by The Priests Militant they are unflinchingly loyal however they are not trained to be creative and depend upon their leader for instruction, for this reason each unit of Redeemed has two Priests Militant leading them. They all wear a white tunic with iron chainmail underneath. Half of them have been taught in the use of single handed Sabers and the other half have been trained effectively to wield crossbows in battle.

Name: House of Bincal
Government: Warlordship
Name: Vex Bincal
Gender: Female
Race: Imperial
Height: 5'2
Age: 35
Moral Alignment: Neutral? Lawful Evil?
Class: Healer
Skills: Restoration, Mysticism, Short-sword, Mercantile, Alchemy,
Combat: Received typical basic Legion training, handy with a short sword and shield and pilum.
Magic: Largely works with Restoration magic, but knows a few mysticism spells such as detect life and reflect spell.
Stealth: Her working knowledge of alchemy has its uses.
Appearance: Steely gray eyes, a head of messy, short black hair, and an dark olive complexion dominate her visage. Her small size, at least for a legionnaire, is compensated for by a exaggerated personality.
Clothing/Armor: For the conference, she wears an very faded green which is dominated by a blood-red mantle clasped at the shoulder by a silver brooch depicting the family insignia: a wolf tearing apart a lamb. In combat, she dons her legionnaire gear.
Equipment: A silver short sword is displayed at her side. She carries other items of importance, including valuable and useful herbs, but those are currently
Miscellaneous: HUGE SPOILER
The Amulet of Kings, lost in the turmoil following the fall of the Potentate, has come into her possession through a series of nefarious dealings. She is confident that she can use this ultimate symbol of authority to her advantage. She keeps it concealed on her person at all times.
Personality: With an appreciation for brutality and a boiling ambition, Bincal is a powder keg for the Cheydinhal region. Perhaps overconfident of her position, she's likely to press issues too hard and overstep her authority. Her regular dealings with criminals may undermine her legitimacy with other rulers.
Background: Born in Bravil to a poor family (her father was a disabled veteran and her mother was a street vendor) she enlisted in the Imperial Legion at age 15, and was trained as a healer. All was not well with the Empire, however, and when the century in which Bincal served was cut off from retreating Imperial forces, she followed her centurion to capture the nearly impenetrable fortress at Scinia (which at the time was completely empty thanks to mismanagement and the general chaos and confusion of the period) and establish an independent state there. Bincal was known to have close relations with her Commander Maximus, and when he died she vied with her fellow officers to be his successor. Her quick and decisive action (claiming she was pregnant with Maximus' child and by poisoning an important rival) she won for herself supreme command of the fortress. Any remaining opposition to her command was flayed alive in front of the entire garrison.Allegiance: Currently none. As everyone in Cheydinhal region knows, Vex Bincal is seeking the Cheydinhal Countess-ship, a position currently held by a competing warlord. She comes to the council seeking support for that goal.
500 regulars, 350+ irregulars (a group largely untrained in combat, save for Fighters Guild members, who are excellently trained)
Fort Scinia (a large fortress in Cheydinhal region in the Valus Mountains. The only access point leading up to the fortress is a rather steep, narrow, and rocky ascent).
Garrison: About 400 regulars, supplemented by 50 or so Fighters Guild members from time to time.
About the troops
---Fighters Guild members tend to be loyal, elite fighters but they're ill-disciplined and don't fight in the ranks very well. They use a variety of weapons.
---Ex-legionaire members are veteran fighters and make up about half the force. They're a disciplined and a rather close-knit community. They fight primarily with pilum, tower shields, and short swords. Some also use bows and spears.
---Mercenary members make up the latter half. They tend to be ex-bandits, marauders, merry-men, hedge-knight types, well adapted to a variety of weapons and expert in fighting in forests and difficult terrain. They don't fight as cohesively as the legionaries, nor are they as disciplined, but they're more flexible and adaptable. They are excellent raiders and excel in hit-and-run combat.
Fort Naso (a much smaller fortress to the south, not as much natural protection).
Garrison: Only about 100 regulars, and because there is no regular station for Fighters Guild members, their numbers tend to be small (anywhere from 0-10). Like Fort Scinia, there's about a fifty-fifty split between ex-legionaires and mercenary corps.
Mountain Watch (a small farming hamlet east of Scinia, close to Morrowind, it is defended by a low palisade wall).
Garrison: Largely defended by a militia comprised of the villagers themselves, although they are complemented by a troop of about 50 or so mercenary types. The latter like to bully the villagers, so there is uneasy tension between the two. The villagers can muster about 300 fighters in difficult circumstances, but they're poorly armed, untrained, and inexperienced.
Note: Each fortress has non-combat residents who can take up arms in a dire situation. Though there isn't a guarantee they will. If they expect mercy when the fortress falls, they'll likely keep out of combat.
Name: House of Motierre
Government: Countship? Warlordship?
Name: Andre Motierre
Gender: Male
Race: Breton
Height: 5' 7"
Age: 18
Moral Alignment: Chaotic Good/Lawful Neutral
Class: Count or Warlord, depends on who you ask
Skills: Swordplay, tactician, minor knowledge in destruction
Combat: Mainly uses a longsword in which he has received lessons with, but has never had to trade to many blows in a real fight
Magic: Also, picked up some basic use in destruction magic centering on manipulating fire. With his level of understanding with the art it probably serves more defensively like a destruction than any real offensive capability
Stealth: Relies on assassins for anything of this regard
Appearance: Golden blonde hair, clear blue eyes, pale skin, soft facial features
Clothing/Armor: Consists of fine noblemen clothes bearing the the symbol of Cheydinhal/With armor he usually dons steel chainmail with leather over the top and the rest of his pieces
Equipment: Steel longsword which is carried at all times along with his armor pieces
Miscellaneous:
Personality: A young man with good intentions and lawful ideals for his people but the slight lack of confidence and inexperience with politics and rivals to successfully show his leadership
Background: Born with noble blood to the count's older brother's son. While the claimant to the Cheydinhal Countship is weak it is still a legitimate claim. As an adolescent, he learned swordplay and tactics from a close family friend whom he calls his uncle, but has always viewed as a mentor and father-figure. Moreso than his own since his father died while he was a young boy in a petty warlord squabble. With his newfound resources at his disposal he hopes to do what is best for his subjects with the main thing being to end the warlordism in the Cheydinhal county and unify it under one banner.
Allegiance: To the security and best interests of the Cheydinhal people. Anything else is secondary priority.
Military: About a 130 various foot soldiers and some supplemental support from the mage's and fighter's guilds depending on various variables such as compensation or the situation.
Brief Background: After the death of the previous Count of Cheydinhal, Andre was the last surviving claimant to the title. He has now assumed the role and with it the command over Cheydinhal and the nearby Fort Farragut. He would like to unify the Cheydinhal country under his banner. For now he covets the lands of Bincal and her cohorts so he would not have to worry about his eastern front as much and because he realizes that his military strength is greater. Although he's not sure if a full assault would be wise given Bincal's known brutality.

But he has made his enemies, the Reman Empire, unhappy that they seceded from the Empire, weakening them further, but when the Khajiit take Namon and Water’s edge for the glory of Elsweyr, then Cyrodiil will know the power of the Khajiit, and they will tremble at the thought of their armies.
Successor: Ji'kaa (daughter)
Army Commander: Do'zzhar (colleague)
Brief Background:
Border Watch used to be an Elsweyrian village, until the Empire conquered Elsweyr and declared Leyawiin and surrounding areas to be part of Cyrodiil, but life never really changed for the inhabitants of border watch, most of whom were still Khajiit and valued the Khajiiti ways of life, living by the moons. Moon sugar and the art of Mercantile. As the Interregnum began, Border Watch became one of the last villages held by the Reman Empire, but they rebelled, and stated their independence with the aid of 840 Khajiit and Aldmeri troops.
Since then, the number of their troops has remained the same, but Elsweyr promises more troops if Border Watch can prove that she can use them. So the inhabitants of Border Watch have set their eyes on seizing Water’s Edge and later Fort Namor, hoping to expand their influence and aid in the destruction of the Reman Empire that had oppressed them for so long.
However, at the risk of open war, Elsweyr will not attack the Reman empire, they will supply equipment and men, but they will not fight unless they themselves are threatened.
