A Province Divided: The Interregnum

A Province Divided:

The Interregnum

The year is 2E 472, it has been nearly 500 years since Tamriel has had an Emperor on the throne. The provinces have broken apart into a complex web of small warlords and kingdoms. Even the Imperial Province is nigh unrecognizable.

Since the death of the Akabiri Potentate Savririen-Chorak forty years ago, the Empire has had a string of ineffectual leaders, unable to keep the old Counts from revolting. Soon, the Imperial City found itself separated from the rest of the Empire.

Finally, a minor warlord invaded the Imperial City and wiped out almost all of the Empire's remaining Legions.

Now what little remains of the old Reman Empire has retreated south to Leyawiin, and awaits its doom.

In the West, the highly independent lords of the Colovians swiftly united under the banner of the Colovian Empire.

In the north, a tribe of Boethia worshippers have taken over the former county of Bruma, instituting a new religion based on their Daedric Prince.

In the East, Cheydinhal has fallen to minor, bickering warlords fighting for control of small towns and villages.

In the South, Bravil and Skingraad have united as a single nation.

And on the rocky coasts of the Abbecean Sea, a small city state has formed.

This is a time of great hardship in Cyrodiil, a time of warriors and kings, of mages and assassins. Perhaps there is a new Reman amongst these young kingdoms, a leader that the people of Tamriel can unite around.

?All that is sure is that the Interregnum has begun

But there is still hope.

Recently, a council was called to meet in the White Gold Tower to discuss the future of Tamriel. The leaders of many of the kingdoms have sent representatives, and several leaders have also come. These debates may just be the spark to begin a bloody war, or may lead to a great peace that shall stand the test of time.

Spoiler
Name - Orvas Salothran
Race - Dunmer
Gender - Male
Height - 6'3
Age - 39
Moral Alignment - Neutral, with Good tendencies
Class - Witchhunter
Skills:
Combat - Trained in medium armor, and is a talented swordsman.
Magic - Can cast Restoration and Illusion magic at a relatively high level of proficiency, although he's far from a master of the arcane arts.
Stealth - While he prefers honorable combat, he has trained as an assassin.
Appearance - Orvas is tall and thin, with a bony, unattractive face. His fair is white, a common trait in his family, and he keeps it just above his shoulders. He has a number of square, white tattoos on his face and arms.

Inventory - He wears a full set of Bonemold armor, with a Chuzei helm. He has a white cloak with a number of black, Daedric symbols inscribed on it. The cloak was given to him as a blessing from the Archcanon, long before his exile. He wields a silver longsword, enchanted to cause crippling pain in Daedra and Undead, and a Bonemold shield.

Biography - Orvas was born in Deshaan, one of three children of a wealthy slave trader and his third wife. His brothers were blessed; his oldest brother, the son of the slave trader's first wife, was chosen by Ayem as a baby to lead Her Hands, and was given Her Blessing.
The second son, the child of the slave trader's second wife, was blessed by Seht (even then distant and reclusive), who proclaimed that the child would grow up to be the greatest mystic of the century.
It was widely believed that Vehk would bless Orvas, the youngest child, as the others of the Tribunal had with his siblings. However, when the baby was born, the third of the Tribunal never came, and so the third child was left unblessed.
His mother disappeared like the slave trader's past wives not long after he was born, and so he spent his early years as a sickly and neglected child. The slave trader married twice more, but fathered children with neither wife.
When Orvas was a teenager, it was discovered that his father had killed all of his wives, and his punishment was to be exiled to Black Marsh, where he presumably soon perished. Orvas spent the next few years under the care of the local Temple priestess, a jovial and eccentric old Ashlander called Kil, who delighted in telling stories about her childhood in the wastes.
Around then, Orvas was cynical and faithless, growing interested in Western culture and the worship of the Bad Daedra, among other taboos. However, Kil slowly began to turn him back towards the path of the Tribunal, and eventually he completely renounced his heresy.
When he was seventeen, he joined the Morag Tong, who taught him of both honor, and assassination. In those days, the Morag Tong rarely set foot outside of Morrowind, but prospered in their homeland. Despite the lucrativeness and honor of being an assassin, briefly after his training was complete he joined the Temple, becoming a spy and diplomat for them.
Will his brothers became famous for their battles against all manner of heretics and monsters, he busied himself with a much quieter life of service to the thrice-blessed. He worked mainly as an inquisitor, keeping the Houses in line and searching for any rebels against the Temple.
However, eight years ago, tragedy struck. His brothers, who had grown callous and weak, forsaking the glory the gods had given them for lives of excess and luxury, became jealous that their unblessed, far weaker younger brother had become closer to the thrice-blessed then they had.

His older brothers framed him for worship Mehrunes Dagon, and the Temple quickly tried to arrest him. His old contacts in the Morag Tong, refusing to believe he'd grown corrupt, helped him flee Morrowind for Bruma, where he quickly gained favor in the local court. Despite the rise of Boethiah's Legion, he's made it clear that he continues to worship the Tribunal, even if the Temple has forsaken him. Despite his difference of belief, he's grown to be a respected official in the Legion, in part due to his close friendship with it's leader, Cassamir, and has sworn himself to it's advancement throughout Cyrodiil.

Miscellaneous: HUGE SPOILER

The Amulet of Kings, lost in the turmoil following the fall of the Potentate, has come into her possession through a series of nefarious dealings. She is confident that she can use this ultimate symbol of authority to her advantage. She keeps it concealed on her person at all times.

Personality: With an appreciation for brutality and a boiling ambition, Bincal is a powder keg for the Cheydinhal region. Perhaps overconfident of her position, she's likely to press issues too hard and overstep her authority. Her regular dealings with criminals may undermine her legitimacy with other rulers.

Background: Born in Bravil to a poor family (her father was a disabled veteran and her mother was a street vendor) she enlisted in the Imperial Legion at age 15, and was trained as a healer. All was not well with the Empire, however, and when the century in which Bincal served was cut off from retreating Imperial forces, she followed her centurion to capture the nearly impenetrable fortress at Scinia (which at the time was completely empty thanks to mismanagement and the general chaos and confusion of the period) and establish an independent state there. Bincal was known to have close relations with her Commander Maximus, and when he died she vied with her fellow officers to be his successor. Her quick and decisive action (claiming she was pregnant with Maximus' child and by poisoning an important rival) she won for herself supreme command of the fortress. Any remaining opposition to her command was flayed alive in front of the entire garrison.

Allegiance: Currently none. As everyone in Cheydinhal region knows, Vex Bincal is seeking the Cheydinhal Countess-ship, a position currently held by a competing warlord. She comes to the council seeking support for that goal.

Brief Background: The House of Bincal was established by Vex Bincal, following the death of her commander, Centurion Maxiumus, assuming his command of Fort Scinia. She quickly expanded control to Fort Naso to the south, and has designs on Fort Farragut and, ultimately, Cheydinhal.

Allegiance: Usually the highest bidder, though he would prefer fighting for the Empire.
Military: 30 Skirmishers; Armed with various bows, hand weapons, light shields. Each wears a leather hauberk with the companies emblem embossed down the right arm.

Or war.

These are the dark ages after all...

Cyrodiil is isolated from Skyrim, Morrowind, and Hammerfall by mountains, and Elsweyr, Valenwood, and Argonia are even more divided than Cyrodiil.

We will, but there is very little lore about this time, so it is assumed that there are very few major powers out there to contend with...

Plus, communications are very poor...

Flavius is in the shadows, Aventius could easily miss him.

Then could this be left up to the players, then? As long as it doesn't contradict what others describe/have a huge influence on the rp?

Well too late.. Also Aventius noticed that you were looking at him. Just thought you should know.
