A Provisioner died.

Post » Sun Jan 17, 2016 12:36 am

Sanctuary Hills was attacked by Radscorpions and during the attack I got in the way of a Provisioner's line of fire and he killed himself with a ricocheting bullet. What do I do? My supply lines look fine but the Provisioner is dead. Does it even matter?

Guessing you're not on the PC so can't resurrect him. Could try assigning a new guy to the line.

I'm not sure if I need to or if It still thinks he's alive (because he's not supposed to die). I was hoping someone knew what the game thought was happening.

When things are going perfectly right I'm not even sure the game really knows what it thinks is happening...

All we have are guesses. Maybe the game will send the brahmin around by itself and things will go on. Maybe the game will resurrect the guy itself (unlikely seeing as you were involved in his death).

:sadvaultboy: RIP Robert - you were kind to the pack animals and a loving husband to your wife Jenny, and a good father to little Frieda.

I had a provisioner die right after I assigned the person. He walked a little ways away and stepped on some mines. I was in the middle of trying to build something and suddenly my supplies were cut off for building. I just assigned another person and the supplies were available once again.

???

Provisioners can die quite easily. They are not immortal like companions. Where did you get the idea that he wasn't supposed to die?

As others have said, I have had a provisioner get slaughtered by a Death Claw immediately after he started his route, so I had to get another person assigned right away. Almost didn't find his remains due to it being a lot of little pieces, but I finally did and got his equipment back, at least.

In my experience they don't die when they are out on the trade routes. They just become incapacitated for a while.

I had to change one route because the provisioner kept falling enroute and the supply line would constantly go missing and come back again.

I walked the route myself and could see why.

Egret Tours marina to Jamaica Plains is a dangerous path.

However you can kill them yourself.

One thing to note, if you assign a settler to a supply line they are forever titled Provisioner, even if you later assign them to another duty.

So if the line is still showing perhaps you still have a provisioner on duty.

When I read the Title & OP I was thinking:

"Tonight, a provisioner died in Sanctuary. Somebody knows why... somebody knows."

I've seen plenty of Provisioners go down and they sit on their butt like Preston whe he goes down. Robert was different.

They may be Protected but they are not Immortal. They die very easily due to their routes wandering through the Wasteland. Just like you, at least for many levels. There are plenty of enemies that can kill provisioners in seconds such as the example I gave.

Provisioners are supposed to be protected, i.e. only the PC can kill them. If a deathclaw killed one of yours, that's a bug.

Theoretically, if something other than the player kills a Provisioner, then the game should magically resurrect them (even if it takes a wee while).

I went back to Sanctuary Hills and his body is gone. I don't believe there was enough time for him to disappear. There's some level of hope. Robert may be alive.

If he's alive he is not Robert. Members of Project Mayhem have no name.

I was and am unaware as to whether or not provisioners are more mortal than regular settlers. But for roleplaying purposes and simply precaution, I have made a point to outfit my provisioners as well as I am able. For especially dangerous areas, my provisioners will get ballistic weave garments and upgraded combat armor on top of that. For weapons I will give them tricked out, top of the line weapons and will even go so far as to give them legendaries if they fit. I also make sure they've got at least a couple of stim packs. As far as I know, I haven't lost any of them yet in nearly 600 hours of gaming.

I also give mine rad x and radaway...which I'm sure they never use, but I like to think they're prepared.

Weird. My provisioners are invincible. I came across them fighting some enemies and when they lost, they're down instead of dead.

If you're involved in their death in any way you're actually able to take them down permanently.

Just use the bots from Greengarden as your provisioners. Nobody will mourn their loss.
