Proximity Alarm sound is unrecognizable

Post » Fri Mar 18, 2011 6:38 am

This is annying me a bit when playing with this module. The sound of that modules isn't remarkable. In the Xbox 360 Demo the sound was different.

I played with it, and it was really helpful, but the current sound is too quite. When someone is near, I should get an immedeate warning, not a quite sound, that is suffering in all the shooting and other sounds. Now, I always here the enemy when he stands right behind me.

No. It's not the same as with Air Stomp. With Air Stomp if you die, it was your fault. The blame lies entirely on you except for the few situations where you hit a bugged part of a map.

With Proximity alarm the thing just plain doesn't do its job. It needs a fix.

Yeah, When I first unlocked that thing in the campaign. I thought it was apart of the music... really, it was way too quiet. I thought it would be my suit dude telling me that an enemy was near but all it was, was a little wee wee wee.... Stupid proximity alarm bull.

Yeah, that would've been cool, if the Nanosuit said : Multiple Threats incoming. Starting killing sequence... =D

Definitely agree that the proximity alarm sound is totally indistinguishable from the general background noise you hear in SP and MP. Most of the time I forget it's even there.

Are you people deaf? The sound is so clear. Proximity alert is all I use.

What are your sound settings? If you've got music cranked way down it probably is a lot easier to hear, but the alarm sound itself just seems to perfectly match the ambient background noise.

Have you leveled it up to level 3 yet? I'm playing with a headset. Maybe thats why I don't have any problems hearing it.

That's probably it. Using the speakers seems to overwhelm the alarm chime with the background noise.

That's probably because it's a metallic ping instead of the digital sounding effect from the Beta.

I hardly noticed the audible sound, initially. When I used Proximity Alarm, I thot it was just the red bars on HUD. Later, when using Team Speak, I turned down in game Sound to better hear Teamspeak; I was annoyed by this loud incessant clanging, like someone banging on a pan. I thot one of the gamers, must have an open mic that was annoying.

Then I realized it was Proximity Alarm audible. Ingame sounds, FX and music compete with Proximity Alarm audible and it becomes difficult to notice in a 16 peeps server. Now I know what it is. You can manage how distinct Proximity Alarm is when in game, by tweaking FX and music down.

I use a headset too. Sennheiser 650

I completely disagree. Proximity Alarm is very useful. When you have a gamer that might be exploiting stealth, and runs a macro to uncloak with right mouse button and fire. Proximity Alarm is the only defense you have.

When I first started this game I couldn't see stealth, now I can catch stealth most of the time. With Proximity Alarm, I know I need to react.

Honestly, I didn't know there was a sound lol. But you guys do realize that the little white bars around your radar turn red when there is an enemy nearby, right?

Doesn't give enough contextual info, because the bars immediately jump to full red as soon as you are in the general area of an enemy.
